well they are primarily a comics store.
FFG should have had a buy back policy in place to help small stores deal with large 1.0 stock.

I understand the Aces Packs may not get re-released but is FFG going to put out 2.0 Pilot cards that were in the Aces Pack/Epic Ships?
I would think so as they have the names and stats already.
I think the only thing about the Aces/Veteran packs that they were referring to was the unique paint jobs would not be duplicated.

I was at my local Barnes and Noble and decided to look at the X-Wing stuff while there since I had heard about some good deals (long story short, mine didn't really have any). What really hit me though was how many ships are really out there. It never really occurred to me before because I was more of a casual collector than a player, but after starting to play all of those options suddenly gained relevance to me.
Unfortunately, that's also made me feel like I'm in a bit of a paradox. There are definitely places where I have the room to pick up old First Edition ships and still have a Conversion Kit cover them, but it's not the only thing to consider. I'm finding a lot of situations where buying an old ship just isn't worth it for me (because of known model changes, the price not being anything special, having to decide what I even want, etc.).
It's suddenly made me extremely impatient to see things re-released in Second Edition. Seeing that shelf was like having all the knowledge of where the game is going to end up, but only as a vision back when I started collecting and knowing I have to get to that point the slow way. I know the new edition only just launched, but this wasn't something I expected to experience and it seems to have caught me by surprise.![]()
In other words, I expect everything will be re-released (a lot of things would be problematic if they didn't), but we don't have any sort of idea of a schedule for that yet, and I can't wait until we do.
I also went to B&N to see if they had any XWing 1.0 on clearance, sadly everything was full price. Although it a deal can be had online, it would be easy to say: "I'm going to pick up at X-store."
I'm in a position where I have enough ship from each faction to justify a conversion kit, but I don't have every mini that they produced. However I don't like jumping from faction to faction every other week. So it's hard for me to buy up all of the Scum ship I don't own. Or ships like the TIE Aggressor and Striker which are kinda... meh.
Double Post, bleh
Edited by RaithnorI like Kestral in an Tie Aggressor. It can be a great support ship to have in a squad.
So (Hi! First post!), as a new player just coming in with 2e, I went and looked at the back list of 1e ships, and sorted them by their current Star Wars canon status. Here's the ships that aren't in the current Canon.
Note that the HWK-290 and Z-95 only squeak in because they're in some random Star Wars mobile app!
I know that FFG has said they will re-release all these ships "over the next few years"... but at 4 ships/wave, that's like 4 waves of ships, or 2 years of releases. With ships from the Resistance TV show, the Mandalorian, new movies, Old Republic and Separatist factions, is releasing the Alpha-class Star Wing, as popularized in Lucasart's 1993 game X-Wing (I loved that game... it's 25 years old), really something that we expect to happen?
yup, it is going to take a long time to get all the old ships redone.
Mostly because they will concentrate on new ship releases.
Also, they are using 1.0 owners as play testers to see what ships are more popular and should be released sooner than others.
this is why a lot of people recommend buying 1.0 ships and collections now. (plus it is cheaper than buying 2.0 ships)

The HWK and Z-95 have a bigger basis in canon than just the app, as the former appears in a canon comic book, and the latter having a varient displayed in the Clone Wars.
The Decimator is also in that app.
The E-Wing has also popped up on a cameo in a comic.
Edited by SabineKeyI wonder if we will ever see the red Royal guard Tie Interceptor again? The canon royal guard pilots did not make it to 2.0. Will it get its own expansion with only force sensitive pilots? (Maybe with winglets this time to excuse their inclusion in the upgrade kit?) or has it been nixed because the First Order gets their slightly different interceptor variant? As a new player I would feel sad for not being able to get the red ones, as an old player I would feel shafted for not having them included in the upgrade kit!

Star Wing is canon but so far only one has been used and by Rebels (some of us are assuming stolen).
E-Wing was in Poe Dameron comics. It also appeared in the Freemaker Adventures, which is not canon but doesn't usually bring back Legends materials unless they're okay to use in canon, from what I understand.
VT-49 Decimator is in SW:Commander.
The HWK-290 was also in the Kanan comics and looks awesome!
Z-95 Headhunters have been used in the Poe Dameron comics as well. 4 different ones, even. There's also a canon Star Wars Insider story that features them. One of Saw's Renegades flew one in Rebel Rising. They were also mentioned to be very common going into the GCW era in Tarkin. And of course, the Clone Z95 was featured in the Clone Wars cartoons.
Anyway, some of these are a bit tenuous (like the Star Wing and the Decimator) but the rest are solid. And with them being introduced in canon, it's more likely to see them used elsewhere (like the HWK-290 first appearing in Commander).
Ok, I'll grant you some "Tertiary Canon" for comics and apps and the like, but some of these are real tenuous.
Like the E-Wing, right? I read that Wookiepedia entry, then I went and looked at the comic. This is literally the only picture of the E-Wing in the comic.
With more movies and TV shows coming out meaning more ships available that the various heroes and villains might actually use, I think the release spots available for "fan favorites from 1e" will probably be one a year, tops. Expect the TIE Phantom in 2026 as part of Wave 19! ?

The term “tertiary canon” is outdated since Disney took over. Their system is more binary of Canon or Legends, rather than the old layered system.

The G-1A Starfighter is also technically canon as the Mist Hunter has shown up in a comic, and I think is the only ESB bounty hunter ship that has been introduced into canon since the Disney purge. The Slave 1 showed up in ESB while the Hound's Tooth showed up in Clone Wars before the purge.
The ships from the EU are likely not much of a priority to rerelease at the moment but in the end will be, and with the time between now and their rerelease there might even be time for new canon pilots to be slotted into them if the craft shows up.

Yea as Sabinekey mentioned there is no longer any canon aside from well canon. If it shows up in a film, show, game, or book then it is as hard canon as everything else...regardless of how stupid or contradicting the work is.

I fully expect all the ships to be rereleased eventually. If they were going to cut some ships, they should have done so with the transition rather than setting it up so that veterans would have access to ships that never players will never have.
Maybe they'll show up in non-wave bonus boxes, two at a time. Maybe they'll just take a long time to get to. But as long as the game continues to receive new content, I'll be certain that the old ships will be rereleased.
Well, we'll see.
Jumpmaster in 2028. ?
