I attack the darkness with my magnifying glass! (Oh no, it broke.)

Weird idea that resource cost is the fight bonus. I mean, it's not as if more expensive items are heavier.

I stand corrected.

Fun fact: a few survivor and neutral items, sorted by usefulness:

Dreadful weapons (cost 0):

Cherished Keepsake (Mister Pawterson is not a fighter)

Leather Coat

Marginal weapons (cost 1, comparable to a knife):

Fine Clothes (strangle them with your tie?)

Newspaper

Rabbit's foot

Painkillers

Decent weapons (cost 2 comparable to a handgun):

Backpack

Elder Sign Amulet

Fire Extinguisher

Wendy's Amulet

Baseball Bat

Good Weapons (cost 3, better than most handguns:)

Key of Ys

Old Hunting Rifle

Trench Coat (clearly, heavy cotton makes a much better weapon than leather)

Really good weapons (cost 4)

Ornate Bow

The Best weapon of all (Cost 5)

Timeworn Brand

Well, you couldn‘t use all of the mentioned Items for „Act of Desperation“ because they don‘t take up a hand slot.

Oh. I somehow read over that part.

Well, that rather ruins the joke, doesn't it.

So at the moment it's Guardian we're thinnest on the ground for...

Well, we can guess. One of those guardian cards is almost guaranteed to be a basic weapon, we've had one every big box (Blackjack, Survival Knife, .32 colt) and having weapons is pretty essential to the Guardian identity. Even if this campaign's guardian isn't much of a fighter, they'd still need something for those who play other guardians, especially those running with Roland and just the core set. And then I'd expect at least one guardian card that is especially useful to Carolyn, so something that heals horror.

Really good use for that backpack after it's been emptied! You kept some extra bricks in it?

I‘m sorry. But you‘d have to discard backpack anyway when it‘s empty.

Exciting! So FFG have got you back on the purple cards again, is there a mystic fan on the team?

Well, we get what we're given and we're very happy with whatever! But I suspect it's that it turns out our podcast name is in fact a little known mystic card. I'm not sure what it does but I've heard it's to do with clues? Testlessly? Something odd like that. I'll report back if I ever find it...

Rite of Seeking really is my favourite Arkham podcast, yes.

Ooh, I can help you out with that one.

Drawn to the Flame

Cost: 0 - it's free, bargain!

Event: it certainly is in my sometime-fortnightly, sometime-monthly schedule.

Traits: Insightful.

Text: Draw the top card of the topic deck. Then, listen to 2 presenters at your location.

Flavour text: "Interesting!"

Some bits of my card have worn away through overuse so I'm filling in the blanks from memory, but I'm almost certain that's what it originally said.

Anyway, the art on the card (posted elsewhere) is awesome. Mystic is definitely my favourite class for artwork. Also, I'd actually never made the connection that that might be why FFG could be sending you mystic cards.

That was *magnificent*, @Assussanni! Absolutely delightful!

Am I right in saying that when the ammo from a gun has been used up the gun doesnt necessarily get discarded straight away and so you could play this card discarding an empty gun at the same time????

Any asset that requires you to discard when it’s run out of ‘uses’ will say so, like Lockpicks. So if you have a .45 automatic, or flashlight that’s empty, you can absolutely use them in that way. I imagine the case where you’ve emptied the clip, and then just throw the weapon at the enemy instead, which I imagine was exactly the intent!

The picture even suggest exactly that, showing a woman using a rifle as a club.

The asset in question cannot be discarded when it runs out of uses unless a game effect explicitly makes it be discarded.

Eg you can't discard a card just because it has no uses left just because you want to. You need something that causes/allows the card to be discarded.

What can I do to get rid of one then? Play another one that automatically replaces it?
