In lieu of new wave announcements, what would you like to see FAQ'd?

My exact want. I would like there to be a limit of no more than three unique squadrons in any list.

Assuming we were going forward with this. Why 3. Not 2, Not 4, Not 6?

Justify the number.

I know there were arguments as to why its only '2' Flotillas (although I was not privvy to said arguments themslves), but there's at least a why behind it...

Why 3? I'm Interested, since really... If Ace-Shenanigans is what we're wanting to nip, 3 doesn't really do that for anything but Rieekan Aces, and that may be best turfed out with a Rieekan shift itself...

And the Michael Gernes spake, saying

"First shalt thou take out the Maarek Morna Jendon, then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less.

Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shalt be three.

Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.

Five is right out.

Once the number three, being the third number, is reached, then lobbest thou thy Imperial aces that are like a mini Yavaris towards the foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

I'm afraid I don't have a rock solid reason for three. Mostly, the number was chosen to give the ability to have 'some' aces, while at the same time utterly eliminating nightmare Sloan/Rieekan balls. It's mostly a flavor thing - there are a lot of playable aces and this would make you really think about which ones you want to take.

My feeling is that two is too few, four would potentially be acceptable, but five is approaching the numbers that we're seeing now. I believe that excessive aces slows down play, and I'd like a reason to encourage use of non-unique squadrons.

Note: Just realized I didn't address your 'doesn't really do that for anything but Rieekan Aces' comment. Maybe it's just the Sloan fleets I'm seeing around here, but nearly every single list I see with Sloan as the Commander runs Steele, Jendon, Mauler, Saber, Ciena, Howlrunner, Valen, and Dengar (134 points exactly for those eight). I don't have lists in front of me, but I think most, if not all, Sloan lists I recall from Regionals+ contain at least 5/6 of the above eight.

The majority of aces it seems - outside of Sloane in the imperial side, reported recently on the forums and discord, is Morna-Maarek-Jendon for the starting point. Those three give the greatest bangs for bucks... It just seemingly occurred that 3 entirely preserves, and even enhances that, while turning down rebel counterplays.

Just more proof that differing metas differ opinions, eh? ?
