So Ewings are great at getting in, taking a good shot, getting out, and shrugging off long range fire as they set up for their next pass. What they struggle with is first-pass concentrated firepower. They need a solid anvil, particularly one who can handle 3 and 4 die attacks.
R2Dcrew on Wulffwaro, I think, is that anvil. R2Dcrew was nerfed in 2.0 in what Wulff considers to be all the best ways, and chewie is there to fix any problems R2 uncovers.
The plan is for Wulff to bait a joust while the Ewings flank- Wulff really wants that first 3 points of damage to turn on his ragelaser. Lone Wolf is mostly bait, but if the enemy focuses the Ewings first, it helps the gunship in the endgame.
