Why does X-Wing Second Edition not have its own forum?

By TwiceBorn, in X-Wing

The thread title says it all.

Wouldn't it be easier to search for rules questions, squad builds, etc., if X-Wing 2nd ed had its own forum? It seems that every other new edition of a game FFG releases gets its own forum, so I'm not sure why they haven't done so with this game.

Apologies if this has been discussed previously, but I haven't found a prior thread on the topic.

Did Game of Thrones 2nd edition have it's own forum?

Yes, both "A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (2nd ed)" and "A Game of Thrones LCG (2nd ed)" have their own forums. The 1st ed LCG forums are still there to peruse, and the 1st ed board game forums are archived.

Were you trying to reaffirm my point, or...???

This is the de facto second edition forum. I'm not sure about GoT or other games that have had multiple editions but so far my experience with 2nd edition is that nobody I know stuck with 1st, that's out of about 60 players. Maybe the situation is different with X-Wing compared to those other games? Maybe at this point FFG could open a 1st edition sub-forum for those still playing that, but all of the posts on the front page at the moment seem to be 2nd edition related so I think we can safely say the new edition has taken over this forum.

Yes, I see that and understand your point. But when using the "search" function to find answers to 2nd ed rules questions, answers to 1st ed rules questions still crop up (even if lower on the results page). Seems like needless clutter, and if separate forums could be created for the new editions of other games, I don't see what held FFG back for X-Wing 2nd ed.

Not the end of the world, I know, but it would just seem cleaner.

had a similar discussion over on reddit, about Boardgamegeek's split of X-Wing into 1st and 2nd edition entries. my take is the same, splitting allows for rules searches and card/ship discussion-searches that are much more useful. there so much shared terminology between the two editions(which is to be expected) that searching for a ruling is very difficult. especially since very little of the 1st edition stuff has marker anywhere stating that it is 1st and not 2nd. dates help, but especially right now there's some overlap with the wave14 info and 2nd edition stuff. even later as 1st edition 'conversations' get older in comparison to 2nd, it becomes a additional step for a person looking for an answer to filter it by date.
