A few questions concerning named TIE-pilot-abilities and damage:
Iden Versio’s pilot ability reads:
Before a friendly TIE/ln fighter at range 0-1 would suffer 1 or more damage, you may spend 1 Charge. If you do, prevent that damage.
The Rules Reference reads that for each damage a ship suffers, it loses a shield by flipping the shield to its inactive side. If it does not have an active shield remaining, it is dealt a damage card instead.
In my understanding Versio’s ability triggers in both of these cases:
- 1 TIE/ln is equipped with shield upgrade and suffers 1 damage, forcing it to flip 1 shield to its inactive side.
- 1 TIE/ln with no active shields suffers 1 damage and receives 1 damage card.
Is that correct?
Gideon Hask’s ability reads:
While you perform an attack against a damaged defender, roll 1 additional attack die.
The Rules Reference reads that a ship is damaged while it has at least one damage card. Accordingly Hask’s ability only triggers against enemy ships with at least one damage card. It does not trigger against enemy ships that suffered damage, but is still able to flip shields to inactive side. Is that correct?
Different pilot, same question. Del Meeko’s pilot ability reads:
While a friendly ship at range 0-2 defends against a damaged attacker, the defender may reroll 1 defense die.
The Rules Reference reads that a ship is damaged while it has at least one damage card. Accordingly Meeko’s ability only triggers against enemy ships with at least one damage card. It does not trigger against enemy ships that suffered damage, but is still able to flip shields to inactive side. Is that correct?
