Despite the pain of no top-init Kylo, I am pumped for the Silencer

By Hoarder of Garlic Bread, in X-Wing

Blackout getting his own massive buff to I5 with the innate ability to double reposition will finally be a viable alternative to Kylo, and with debris gambit (fittingly originally designed for him) he can both evade and reposition in the same turn. With the buffed-up collision detector as a very viable option, the nerf to advanced sensors and the 3-banks turning white don't hurt so badly.

As for Kylo, Supernatural Reflexes can turn him absolutely bonkers, even moreso than 1st edition. Yes, the Grand Inky can reposition>>focus+clear with blue+final action, but with force users not needing focus so badly unless juke is in play, Kylo's reposition>>>second reposition+clear with blue+final action is both more diverse and powerful. Also, Kylo actually moves at a very satisfying speed. Despite the drop to I5, he is now having 3 actions on turns such as these (essentially 4, if you count him spending a force like a calculate). Granted, there are no 1.0 autothrusters or Vanguard to boost defense, but these changes are surely boosting his established status as a supership. Furthermore, with Advanced Optics, that 3rd action could be focusing anyway so that the focus can change a blank to a hit whilst force handles a focus result. Let us also not forget that Supernatural Reflexes opens up the system slot to wonders such as collision detector or the (still amazing) FCS. Oh, and Panicked Pilot! will be Kylo's new favorite crit to throw around, essentially telling a ship it may not perform actions save for Ap-5 or afterburners! Even if dark side is changed to faceup damage and not critical, that is still a great ability.

I look forward to the Sequel Conversion wave. At long last the Silencer will no more be that weird ship with generic elites that don't see much play and a Backdraft/Old Terroch of the expansion that seems fun but is inferior to the absolute madlad of the ship. Let's hope the grunt test pilots retain their power despite the change of Optics to the effect of old Weapons Guidance.

Primed thrusters, baby!

Am I missing a news release?

Yeah, the wave 2 announcement.

How could I forget my favorite tech? Sad it's nerfed, but still able to function after a panicked, so that's good. Supernatural Kylo salivates at them.

Lets just say, a birdy told me some things. However, they were things to be expected from the spread a few months ago.

yes but he said some things that aren't there

I'm really excited for these as well! But I'm confused by the generics not seeing play... **** we had a whole 10+ page thread about two of them with Quickdraw. I took a pair with Vermeil to win a store champ...

I'm extra glad I have an old one, so when I buy new ones and run 3 of them I can have Kylo be the bigger ship because of course that's how it would go down.

Kylo has good options for Supernatutal but the roll and 1 turn is considerably better than using the 2 turn so you might find Kylo not dialing in a blue for the double repo that often.

The V1 is such a good Supernatural chasis. I look forward to seeing how the Silencer plays with it.

I know the Silencer looks a lot like the Interceptor, but it's possible it has a different ship ability. A Force-sensitive pilot with Autothrusters capability seems monstrously powerful.

EDIT: someone posted a full card picture later in the thread, it does have Autothrusters.

If you think about it, Init 5 is kind of where Kylo was in 1.0 at PS 9. Kylo always had to take PTL, which meant he was stuck at 9. So he was always beat out by PS 10 and 11 (Vader, Quickdraw, Nym, Poe, etc.).

Now, with a big bid, Kylo will only move before the handful of PS 6 ships out there, which is probably about the same number of 10 to 11s that beat him out in 1.0.

Oh, Jim is great, especially 2 of him with Quickdraw. The generic elite (keyword being elite) was disappointing in 1st edition aside from experiments.

The leak suggested that the generic elite would be a Force User. I can get behind that idea.

I1 no talent, I3 Knight of Ren with Force, I5’s Blackout and Kylo.

.. Who the EFF is blackout. and why is Kylo NOT i6??

I suspect that they are keeping I6 away from Silencer as a balancing act.

Similarly to Defender, the chassis is so good that with I6 we might get a nearly unbeatable ship.

With I5 as the maximum, we always have the option to bring our I6 as a counter.

And btw I’m expecting new Silencer to be priced closely to the Defenders, so probably no 2x Silencer and SF squads..

But we’ll see.

The kit will able to convert :

  • 7 – TIE/fo Fighters
  • 5 – TIE/sf Fighters
  • 3 – TIE/vn Silencers
  • 3 – Upsilon-class Shuttles

I think the ship will be priced but not as much as the tie defender.

The fact Kylo is a 5 and not a 6 tells you how good the ship was in play testing.

Kind of surprised the Silencer didn't get the medium base treatment, but I guess the model is actually way larger than it should be?

Devs mentioned on some video that the new model will be smaller.

the model we got was massive. Silencer is around 30% longer than the X-Wing and in the game its closer to 2x the size for some reason.

Thats why everyone was wondering why it had no crew...or upgrades at all really since it was so massive theres no way it didnt have the room for other crew or equipment. Lack of missiles being a big topic. But if its only marginally bigger than an xwing it makes more sense for it to have limited upgrades...still weird to have no missile.

He spends too much time moping and throwing tantrums when he could be practicing and improving.
