The plan is to use the Y-wings to fire AS much proton-stuff they possible can do, while closing into enemies for a block+bomb combination if they get close enough (ideally in the center of a Astroid field on the middel of the board)

The R4 astroid mech will make them nimble enough to turn after stress maneuvers. And because of reload I can imagine is not that superimportant to spend TL on a 2-hit proton-torpedo, since they can live long enough to spend 2 torps, reload and Keep firing.

Wedge and Thane are there to do what they are good at. Probably on flanks.

Any thoughts?

Servomotors are free on the Xs. Its weird to see them so light, which means that the only real evaluation seems like it would be on the table

You could drop Thane to a Blue Squadron and upgrade a grey to Dutch to have a better alpha strike and delete a ship.

A somewhat different take ^

My problem with Thane is that he's a little too random and shoots before the Y's and the Y's are already dropping faceup cards, many of which won't flip automatically, so Thane's options are more limited. He's also not really a closer at I5 with no action economy or passive mods. I won't say that you shouldn't try it, but I definitely think Thane will be the weakest link. So far, I haven't liked bombs on Y's, specifically torp Y's. Torp Y's, especially with R4's have a flying profile that's not great for bombs. Maybe turreted Y's, but turret Y's are somewhat meh and not enough of a point savings over the much harder hitting torp Y's.

Good points coming from you ... I am changing the set-up a little
