Additionally, we will post a series of letters throughout the weeks leading up to the 2018 Winter Court World Championship. These letters will be published starting in October and will be written by the clan's Champion. They will address all those dutiful samurai who intend to represent the clan at the Winter Court and outline the clan's most pressing concerns.

In addition to selecting their clans' elemetnal roles, each of the seven clans' top representatives at the Winter Court will counsel their Champions. Each honored samurai will help choose which of their clan's families should take the lead in the matters addressed within these letters.

Simultaneously, the Shogun will earn the Emperor's ear and will be able to advise not only his or her Clan Champion about which family should represent the clan in its most important matters, but will be able to specifically recommend one of the family's most talented bushi, courtiers, or shugenja to take on the task.

Also wow I LOVE these prize cards:

Want three of so bad, time to find some "raiders" to go hunt some treasures for me since I can't attend this year.

Ooof. I imagine my budget for Worlds just tripled to buy extra prizes...

Can I just have Yoritomos instead of Altansarnais if I place top of clan for Unicorn? I mean Yoritomo is actually in my deck sooooooo.................

... I wish Tsukune made it into more decks that worked...

Ah well.

Amusing to think of the family shuffle, 'cause... some have a lot of choices to make, while others... not so much...

(Shiba or Kaito por favor, sorry Asako, not sorry at all Isawa!)

Hmm, what could they be?

"Which family should investigate the elemental imbalance?"

"Which family should provide a Spiritual advisor to the Imperial Regent?"

"Which family should search for the missing Master of Void?"

knowing Tsukune?

"Which family should serve as liasons and goodwill ambassadors to the Crane in support of the reconstruction assistance we'll be providing as compensation for causing the tsunami?"

That's a good one, but also without actually saying it was us, just because we're being nice.

Man, I'm wondering if those tickets are sold out now.

There are less games this year without Netrunner, so hopefully that translates into more space for everything else. If I remember correctly, you have until October 1st to put in for a ticket, do it's definitely worth doing it just in case - you still have to actually purchase the ticket if you're selected, and can always choose not to go at that point if you so wish.

Yeah, but she's not really in the driver's seat... for precisely this reason.

It looks there are tickets for both days: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2018/8/29/2018-november-world-championships/

It's a shorter event without Netrunner (4 days). Also, there was enough push from players after they sold out that FFG opened a third Day 1 event.

I wonder what happened to the new web fiction that we were promised for this week.

She may not be in the driver's seat, but she sure wrote a letter to the Crane that we have no idea as to what she wrote...

I think the system is now set to only purchase tickets? I've looked into it during the weekend and it asked me to punch my payment information.

Good to know - when I filled in the form for my reserved seat, I didn't have to pay straight away...got a follow up email a few weeks later and bought it then.

Did you decide to go? The prize support is amazing, and last year was an awesome experience. It's definitely something I'd recommend, if your funds and schedule allow it.

I decided to go this year. Maybe I can pull off a perfect run of zero wins? This should be a fun experience all around.

Anyone who went last year, any recommendations on a hotel?

I've done that in both X-Wing and SW:Destiny. The jerks always end up giving me a bye and ruining the whole thing. I went 3 & 3 last year in L5R and had a blast.

The Radisson Hotel Minneapolis/St. Paul North (2540 Cleveland Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113) is just around the corner from the FFG Games Center and a lot of players walk. I can't recommended it because I haven't stayed there, but they hold side events there so there's bonus benefit.

Still thinking about it, unfortunately. I would have to end up going solo, if I do. : /

Nothing wrong with "going solo" if by that you mean going alone, or shooting someone (first) under the table with your blaster pistol because they were going to take you back to a space slug so you could be turned into a piece of modern art.

If by "going solo" you mean taking the name of a beloved character and making some half-arsed spin off movie that loses millions of dollars and enrages millions of fans.........then no, please don't do that.

In fairness those fans were already pissed of at the very concept of Solo and wasn't much you could have done (despite the fact that the movie they made was actually pretty fun and enjoyable) to make them happy.

They should have just changed his name to Sam Holo and called it a generic sci-fi flick. When you loop it into the Star Wars universe there are certain expectations that come with it.

It's kind of like what we experienced with L5R. Many of the old school players who have a 20 year history with the game had certain expectations that weren't met. If we're able to disconnect what we have now, it's actually a great game, far better than the original IMO.

The same cannot be said of Solo. It's an ok-ish movie, but, it did absolutely nothing but disappoint my inner child that has been waiting 40 years to see a movie about one of my all time favorite characters. If I knew nothing about the star wars universe and had not be essentially raised on the original trilogy, I probably would have enjoyed the movie more.

Really? I’ve always thought you were more of a Vader guy, with your love for Dark Lords and all...

Not a Palpatine guy, of course. You seem to have some issues with Emperors...
