No Stress 3 B-Wings & U-Wing

By CBS Ink, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I put together a list that I thought really helped the B-Wing shed Stress.

3 - (132) B-Wing (Blade Squadron Veteran)

1 - (47) U-Win g (Cassian Andor)

- (2) Tactical Officer

- (3) FCS

- (14) Kanan Jarrus

- (0) Pivot Wing

Total Points: 198

My thoughts was that the 3 B-Wings would fly in formation and Cassian would trail behind/beside and you can continually shed 2 Stress Tokens and from the B-Wings as well as Coordinate them for Token Stacking.

As you know, the 2.0 B-Wing's Dials innately Stress them out.

I like Ten Numb because he sheds his stress with his ability, but Braylen does not shed his stress.

I wanted 3 B-Wings so there are more 3-Die Attacks pointing at the opponent. I also like how they are all the same Initiative for flying in formation.

I wanted to be able to make the B-Wings more versatile and agile which means I will need to be able to clear stress more easily after a 1-Hard Turn, 1-Talon Roll or a 2 K-Turn. The only blue on the dial is the 1-Banks, and the 1, 2 and 3 Forward.

I think a B-wing that can make a 1-Hard Turn right after another, or a 1-Hard Turn right after a K-Turn or 1-Talon Roll is scary. Plus, it will be easier to keep them in formation.

Thats my reasoning.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Looks like a blast to play IMHP.

I don't know how vital FCS is on Cassian. It'll be nice when you can take actions for Locks, but I'd guess a lot of his actions probably will go into Coordinate. Hrm. I figure a lot of folks would attack the B-Wings first, since they're lower agility and easier to kill, so maybe Cassian is free to grab Locks instead of focus (and double mods with Kanan is really nice).

If I were to swap out FCS (just running through ideas), I'd consider Crack Shot on the B-Wings. They can die easily enough, and something to help them push through a bit more damage just seems decent. I also keep wanting to put Predator on B-Wings, but the wouldn't fit, and it's probably a mistake. Predator probably needs to attack 3 times to equal the damage gain from one Crack Shot, but it costs twice as much. I just don't think the value is there, except on a limited number of ships (Soontir Fel, for example).

I do like the idea of Crack Shot on the B-Wings... I guess my plan for the U-Wing and FCS was to TL as few times as possible so I would be able to Coordinate more often.

I was also considering Selflessness on the U-Wing instead of the FCS for more defense, but Im not sure... hmm

Good food for thought though!

Thanks!

Those all seem like things worth testing out.

Selfless might be a bit harder to trigger, though.

Very true!

I guess I figured any defensive help for the B-Wings could be viable.

Or you can put Leia with Kannan in the U-Wing and be able to remove stress with a red maneuver.

One thing I would suggest, depending on how you want to spread your points, is putting HLC/Predator on your Blade Squadrons. It makes them a flat 50 apiece, but you are always getting re-rolls on a four dice shot (HLC has to be bullseye and chances are you can B-Roll/Focus at range one anyways). As for stress, I would suggest taking Leia on a U wing (but that comes out to 51 on a Blue Squadron Scout so not quite enough). You could also drop that setup down to two B wings if u wanted and deck out something else.

Just a suggestion. The Predator HLC combo is really good as I've found, and easier to trigger than taking FCS because it frees up the Focus/B-Roll to get you mods, rather than locking and getting no possible defensive bonus. Between three of them and a support ship you should pretty well be able to shred most stuff before dying (24 health between the B-Wings alone is really good, not including your fourth ship. With a preferable 12 dice and up per round, you should be able to delete something pretty quick, even with only one evade on each B-Wing).

If you want, a good, less support option could be a Gold Squadron Veteran with Predator, Dorsal Turret, Proton Bombs, Skilled Bombardier and R3 Astromech comes out to an even 50 points, so 200 total. It can provide some serious extra damage (with Crits) and the Turret can be used to help counteract low agility and slow movement speeds. Provides 0 support, and doesn't really add to your whole goal of stress free B-Wings, but we don't have to worry about that.

Best,

HLC and Predator don't combo. Predator specifies primary-weapon only. Personally, I was wicked excited about that B-Wing build too, @Cow-of-Doom , but realized I hadn't read the cards closely enough.

Leia seems like a good swap for Kanan, though, and it'd free up space for Predator at least on all the B-Wings.

Well rip. Now you have an extra 9 points to mess around with go crazy!!!
