i wanna see these pathfinders, if only for the cool helmets. I would give them 2 courage, steady but with speed 2. Main weapon with 2 black 1-3 range and a heavy weapon for a grenade launcher with blast and 3 black

Those dudes would be worth like 160 points for those stats lol

What about the Rebel Honour Guard?

1 Black 1 Red Melee, 2 White Ranged, Both Surges, 1 Health per mini, 4 mini's + 1 Heavy Weapon mini

Maybe only 100 but only 3 guys in a squad and no personell upgrade or something

What would these marines even look like that we don't already essentially have models of in the form of troopers/commandos? There's an alternate helmet style that's missing from teh R1 guys but that's about it I think. I'd just put the normal (cheap!) core game Troopers with him if/when Cassian is released.

As far as terminology goes, I think Fleet Troopers are marines. They are stationed on ships and naval bases, they fight in boarding actions, etc.

I was thinking more along the lines of a rag-tag band of soldiers like the crew of Rogue One on Scarif. Rebels with a borderline mercenary look. Not as clean cut or uniform as core set rebels.

Scarif Pathfinders?

See to me that's exactly what the core set rebels look like. They all wear different coats, have different backpacks, and different sidearms. That's not very uniform. And their individual items of gear are in many cases the same as what the Scariff guys wore. They (almost) all wear the same hat, but some of the Scariff guys wore that hat... Same mix of backpacks, vests, etc. as teh Scariff and/or Endor guys. I doubt we'll get an exact photo-replica of the squad of guys that were in the ship in R1 . None of the other squads so far are 100% faithful to the movies. I DO think they're liable to release a 3rd kit of "rebels in those fatigues" later on with new stats and a Scariff paintjob on the box, but I think that's many years down the road.

This is true. And it does highlight one of the problems common to star wars which is the "whatever a character is doing onscreen for one second, they are an expert at and every member of their species also does." So rather than one particular crew of one ship from alderaan, we have fleet troopers that represent all rebel shipboard security/infantry. Sort of like how the trandoshan hunters in imperial assault all dress in one piece flight suits like bossk. The rogue one troops were definitely from a mix of units. The rogue one visual guide talks about each individual and what they did before.

Yeah the Fleet Troopers got that done to them understandably back in the 90's when there wasn't much to go off of. Now it's cemented in gaming forever. Odd that Kenner never made one in the original toyline. Although based on the staff of the Yavin base apparently it was more common than just that one ship's crew... or was it? Being as that we never saw that helmet again after the battle of Yavin...

The rebels in dress uniforms and helmets could work very well for something fun and different but I suspect CW is going to drain off most of our new units for awhile. They seem intent on fleshing out forces similar to what was at the battles of Endor and Hoth but other than that everything else (wookies, operatives, Luke's costume) seems like it's sort of a one-off thing. So regular fleet troopers without pikes are probably gonna stand alone for awhile. It's going to take a long time for everything that we know is coming, to actually be in stores. After that how long do we really have until CW hits?

I'd imagine we'll get Hoth rebels soon but I wonder what they'll name them. They don't commit to proper nouns like "Hoth" or "Echo Base" in Legion unit names.

Also why is EVERY supernumerary non-human in SW a bounty hunter? Why is their such a thriving industry in collecting wanted criminals, enemies of the mob, and bail jumpers, for a reward? It's hands-down the biggest piece of the Star Wars economy for some reason. For that many people to actually be paying their bills with reward money is a strange situation indeed.

As a note, there are no "Scarif Pathfinders" (Rouge One Rebels) wearing the "Basic" Rebel Helmet.

They all either wear the Hoth Cap: 49-1-560x491.jpg

Or this WWII M1 looking Helmet: Rogue-One-Dolby-Cinema-poster-featured.j

1) Fleet Troopers stole the Alderaan consular security uniform after Alderaan exploded. So it used to be just the Tantive IV uniform, but they had a surplus after the owners "went out of business".

2) Echo Base Troopers will be Cold Weather Troopers most likely.

Right, Must've missed that guy.

Thanks for the correction.

It was a more civilized age~ <.<

Yeah he's not the only one but he's got the clearest pic. The alternate Scariff hats would be a good garage kit for someone to tackle. Like the alien heads.

While I love hammers slammers, there is something about star wars that needs to be more than Vietnam era armies in space. Star wars is an odd conglomeration of western gunslingers, kung fu, ww2 dogfighting and 1930s pulp adventure.

Vietnam is also a huge part of that conglomeration though. It has to maintain room for it.

Cassian wears a hoth style jacket while on jedha.

isn't exact but similar enough i can believe it was meant as a callback.

I know, I'm just saying that it isn't the ONLY inspiration. I believe Lucas himself has compared the rebellion to the viet cong. I have read a lot of military sci fi though that is just a particular period of military history "iiiiin spaaaaaaaace!". Really I don't see the Vietnam connection in star wars that much. It connects fast more with imperial rome or Britain and the boer wars.

Yeah, but what color is that jacket really... blue or brown??

They were pretty blatant with it visually, for R1 .

Honour guards in real life are a ceremonial task, not an actual fighting force. And that's exactly the role they play in the films.

Didn't stop them from making red guards, they always seemed ceremonial in the films.

the Emperor's Royal Guards, like the Senate guards in clone wars, are probably more like the roman Pretorian Guard , rather than simple honor guards.

Or the royal guards are just supposed to look nice while people are tempted to the dark side.

The emperor specifically sent them away before any tempting and father son duels between the two potential protegé candidates took place.
