So, how’s the app working for everyone else?
1 minute ago, LordBlades said:I'm talking about the cards you can use, like Maul for Rebels or Moldy Crow for Scum. Also, Composure and Agike Gunner missing from any conversion kit.
As for the damage decks, some stores posted they're not getting any more, even if they got less than what they pre-ordered.
Also, add to the issue list totally misaligned bases in conversion kits which FFG refuses to replace.
Composure and Agile Gunner came out in waves after the conversion kits. They were not part of the conversion as they were new products.
I believe it was up to the store to sign up for the promo decks. Stores deciding not to do it are more on the store owners than FFG. I think the store might have had to pay for them and some decided not to.
Manufacturing issues is all on FFG. I agree. That's crappy.
this is what someone posted in "promo damage deck? " :
Hi *****,
Unfortunately we have some bad news for you with regards to your pre-order for the Star Wars X-Wing Second Edition Core Set.
Fantasy Flight Games have significantly under printed the T-65 Damage Deck bonus item which was offered with pre-orders and both Australia and New Zealand have received less than half the quantities ordered. Distributors were not informed by FFG until after their shipments arrived and have been told that no further decks will be made available.
Sadly this means that we will not be receiving enough copies of the bonus item for all our pre-order customers and unfortunately we do not have one to allocate to your pre-order.
We apologise for the disappointment caused by this, as gamers ourselves we know how frustrating this is. If you would like to cancel your pre-order please let us know.
Our distributors and us are contacting Fantasy Flight Games to express our extreme disapproval regarding this situation and are applying as much pressure on them as we can to try to get another print run made. In the event that more decks become available we will be sending them out free of charge to any pre-order customers who missed out.
Regards,

It says a lot about FFG if they won't do another print run and just reneg on their promise to distributors and FLGS.
11 minutes ago, heychadwick said:OK.....why do you want cards you can't use in your faction in the conversion kit? I think they said something like all the cards you need to play the game will be in your conversion kit. If Empire is the only faction that can use barrage missiles, why would they include it in other ones? I really feel like this complaint is unjust.
Also, the promo damage deck was a shipping issue, I thought? There were some issues that had Scum conversion kits and promo decks that came late. Was there something different?
Are those two issues really a big deal?
Add in damage deck mis-cuts
Punchboard mis print stacks
New x wing cannon glued wrong
Right side core set tie tilted
Fang fighter needed pliers to get wings moving.
Promo damage deck had production issues not just shipping a chunk of them are mis cut which shorted the distributors which shorted stores. But silence til too late.
There's more too. Ffg has quite a list of qa screw ups this time.
Works fine for me, saving squadrons and all.
iPhone.

I will fully agree that all production issues are on FFG. This isn't something new to them. I do not consider myself a fawning fanboy. I just know developers suck.
13 hours ago, Vykk Draygo said:So, title says it all, what are your experiences with the app?
I'm not happy with the layout at all. I'm building my lists in YASB 2.0, and then copying them to the official app to print out, just to double check that YASB 2.0 has got the points and upgrades right.
I'd be happy just ignoring the **** thing altogether. Unfortunatley, it's the only official resource.
10 hours ago, LordFajubi said:I do not get the love for YASB. It’s ok but not the holy grail some of you say it is.
I agree. I don't like it's interface, and have always found it clunky. Sadly, my favorite builder is dead now.
Also, it does not sort by PS in 1.0. Yeah, great for all the 2-ship tourney builds, but a real PIA for Epic players.
9 hours ago, Admiral Deathrain said:Simple: It works. It does the job 1000 times better than FFGs app. And most importantly since it is web-based, it works on every platform, so when someone on this forum asks for a squad builder (or doesn't play properly because they don't know the alternatives to FFGs app), you can be 100% certain they will be able to use YASB2.0.
So why is everyone OK that YASB is online-only, but FFG's app needs to be downloadable??
(Not that I'm against downloadable. I wish I has a download of voidstate's builder that wasn't corrupted. . .)
8 hours ago, Da_Brown_Bomber said:its puzzling why the app is so bad. seems to have been rushed out into the market. clearly FFG needed to invest more time and money into the app before launching it into the market.
the shabby development of the app has surely hurt the launch of 2.0. Maybe not the super fans of the game but new players should be apprehensive about throwing money into 2.0 until the app is actually worth using.
The (cr)app killed my future in the game. I looked at it for 5 minutes, read all the posts, and watch that they are now 800 posts of bugs and requests for it.
With no word at all from FFG about what's going on. It's terrible customer service, poor communication, and a frustration I no longer need to play casual-only.
2 hours ago, heychadwick said:Umm.....what else has been bad about 2.0? Were there more things wrong with 2.0?
It cut Epic players off at the knees.
4 hours ago, robert t said:I still can't see why "hitting snags" would delay the launch of a fully functioning app when 3rd party developers did it with less time and capital.
Making something "prettier/more functional" should have come after they had a stable and functioning app. not before.
The developer takes some of the blame but FFG has to be held accountable for their oversight and negligence in this matter.
They dropped the ball big time. Those three guys should have been yelling at the top of their lungs "where's my app!"
Thankfully, I have all I need to continue to play x-wing with the core and kits.
I will not put any more money into this system as FFG has lost my trust.
PDF's are a last ditch solution not an answer to this mess.
All of this, but especially the last 2 bits.
I used to enjoy list building, and now I have no builder I like. And as a player that always plays at 300 (600) points, doing stuff by hand with cards is bad enough; to need cards and a printout is now enough of a hassle to make me not want to play.
I might acquire some 2.0 stuff because I like Star Wars and I like to see the ships in 1/270 scale. But as a game, the horrible app was basically the last nail in the coffin.
Edited by Darth Meanie2 minutes ago, Darth Meanie said:It cut Epic players off at the knees.
Yeah, but I'm fine with them waiting a bit to get epic done right.
Have you tried to play just as it is now? I'm kind of curious. I'd even keep the points 1st Ed and make them all cheaper.
1 hour ago, heychadwick said:Composure and Agile Gunner came out in waves after the conversion kits. They were not part of the conversion as they were new products.
FFG did say all wave 1 cards would be in the conversion kits though.
Just now, LordBlades said:FFG did say all wave 1 cards would be in the conversion kits though.
I thought it was "all cards that you would need". I think the K-wing must've had only 1 missile slot when they finalized the kits to be sent to factory. It's the only thing I can think of. It is bad.
Yeah they did say all the wave 1 cards would be available through kits.
Amusingly the scum kit is said to have all cards from the fang fighter conversion. But doesn't cause afterburners. The card you can basically guarantee people wanted
30 minutes ago, heychadwick said:Yeah, but I'm fine with them waiting a bit to get epic done right.
Well, I certainly want them to put in more effort into Epic than they put into the app. But, with no time table in place and no chat about it at all, I have mentally written the whole thing off.
QuoteHave you tried to play just as it is now? I'm kind of curious. I'd even keep the points 1st Ed and make them all cheaper.
No.
First and foremost, my brother and I are in the middle of my campaign that I designed for 1.0. Next session in a week.
Second, I have bought nothing but a core set for 2.0, and am even having buyer's remorse about that. I would have experimented with 2.0 if the app wasn't garbage (ergo, without buying the conversion kits--fudge the bullseye arcs, use 1.0 dials), but with a key element of the new edition being an relative POS, this again makes me write 2.0 off as not worth my dedication to this half-assed roll out.
In truth, all of this has made me (joyfully) rediscover Magic the Gathering, which I have had in storage for 15+ years. I have a lot of old cards. I am reselling some of my rares and unopened packs, and will use the credit to buy a limited amount of XWM 2.0. But, basically, I am never spending cash on this game again.
Edited by Darth MeanieBefore they had the Credits button there where you can see that FFG probably hired a 3rd party firm to make the app for them.
It says there that they have a Scrum Master in the team. This means that they’re working in “Sprints” wherein they will push out several versions (minor and major) to the public with several bug fixes and improvements over the course of every 2 weeks or more (1 sprint is normally 2 weeks of development).
They’re definitely working on most of our feature requests just not right away. They put them in several buckets in release schedules and prioritized according to the product owner/FFG’s discretion.
What we have now is a minimum viable product. Keep those feature requests coming and hopefully FFG will add them in a future version.
Hope this helps, folks.

Well....that's just you writing it off. They do have a lot on their plate right now. Maybe they don't have a full idea as to exactly when. Better to be quiet than to be wrong.
2 hours ago, heychadwick said:You talk like there aren't 3rd party apps or websites that can be used. Are there people out there that are only using the PDF?
I never used an online squad builder until we were made to, after looking over the pdf’ again last night I have decided if I play at all it will be with quickbuild s only, it’s hard to not have a legal list when it’s printed on a card in front of you. Others seem to be happy using other ways to play, some of us have to much going on to put work into an actual fun pastime. I’m sorry but it’s true, I want to spend 80% of my time playing and maybe 20% building lists, so far I’ve spent all my time trying to build lists and meanwhile have zero games under my belt. That may be acceptable to some but my time is much more valuable than to spend repeatedly hassling with a s*h*i*t design.
18 minutes ago, heychadwick said:Well....that's just you writing it off. They do have a lot on their plate right now. Maybe they don't have a full idea as to exactly when. Better to be quiet than to be wrong.
I know.
And I'm OK with it.
I will continue to celebrate Star Wars battles in 1/270 scale in my own way with repaints, 3rd party accessories, DIY cards, missions/campaigns/adventures, and prowling these forums.
But I don't feel that FFG really deserves my support after this really awful edition change.
It may have made the game better for standard play (which I have never liked), but I hasn't made the game better for me.
Edited by Darth MeanieNot a fan, I keep using it though in the assumption that it will provide them with bug Data. Found a glitch where when I delete some named TIEs it instead turns them into academy pilots that you can't delete.
I thought it was actually kind of funny ? Wondered if maybe it was a coffee relic from trying to implement the core sets alternate format where you get different versions of ship mid game
Edited by ForceSensitiveAutocorrect is a lot of fun
I've uninstalled the app. I have well over $1500 invested in this game, but I'm not buying a single conversion or 2.0 expansion until the app is as good as they promised. I find it insulting that the key piece needed to make things easy on the players, they invested the least effort into.
1 hour ago, Captain Lackwit said:Usable.
I think a lot of the complaints about the app are very Veruca Salt-esque - people complaining about it being not what they wanted, rather than focusing on what it actually is. "It doesn't do what I wanted it to do ergo it is bad". It's basically like being given a plate of chips for free and then complaining because it's not a steak.
It's had a rough launch, no doubt, but as you said, it's usable.

What did they promise?
It's not though. It still fails the core usability criterion of not generating illegal lists.

If people have been given free steaks until now, it's understandable they are disappointed when they get a bag of chips instead.
Even if somewhat functional, THE FFG app is IMO sub-par when compared to 3rd party apps.
4 hours ago, heychadwick said:A lot of the free list builders out there are done by one person. I can say that one person is a lot easier to make something right than a team of people.
This is so so very true in almost all facets of life.
16 minutes ago, VanderLegion said:What did they promise?
Well, I big promise is that it would be the mechanism by which the game remains balanced.

So it is an utter failure if it already cannot even generate a legal list NOW.
