BLUF: Do Garven and Esege work together?

Hello all, after looking through various lists, these two stood out for me as excellent for action economy. Question is, can Garven use a Focus token from Esege, and then give it back to Esege?

While a friendly ship at range 0-2 defends or performs an attack, it may spend your focus tokens as if that ship has them.

Garven:

After you spend a focus token, you may choose 1 friendly ship at range 1-3. That ship gains 1 focus token.

Benthic focused, passing the extra to Esege, Esege and Garven can use their actions as needed to TL or reposition, or add extra focus. Garven attacks first, and if he has the opportunity to spend Esege's or his own focus he can give another to Esege ❤️

Next question: is there a limit to how many times Garven can use a focus, and hand it back to Esege?

Once Per attack and def3nce roll he makes if he has any eyeballs showing.

Want to emphasize this point. Sadly, abilities like this no longer work on any old roll like they did in 1E.
