Looking over both 1e and 2e maneuver dials, i am surprised there's so few ships out there, with the ability to just 'stay where they are' or make a 0 speed maneuver.. AND for those who do, they are nearly all red ones.. Anyone else find that strange?
Why don't more ships have a 0 maneuver??
Standing still is a very bad and very stressful idea in a combat situation.
Most ships need to cut engines to stop which takes some time to reverse. Or game balance.
Yeah, Game Balance. In a game about maneuvering, setting up static killzones or fortresses is problematic.
Thematically, to stop moving in outer space, you'd need to slam your engines into full reverse - a jarring maneuver to say the least. That's represented by the red nature of full-stop or reverse-speed maneuvers.
Of course, in the Star Wars Universe, constant thrust = constant speed, so what do I know...
I can't say I would mind a Lambda Shuttle flippable configuration that, in wings-up "landing" mode, reduced agility by one and decreased the difficulty of all 0- and 1- speed maneuvers...
It's a game about dogfighting, not a parking lot.
