TIE Advanced v1

I like the generic Inquisitors with Homing Missiles (FCS and/or Perception if you have points to spare). Two shield, three green dice and the evade action makes them much harder to kill than most similarly priced ships, and if you're rolling 2-3 red and/or 3-4 greens you're likely to get a bit of use out of the force too. They're also, for generics, uniquely suited for tallon rolling and koiogran turning, since you still get the force token, and unlike Interceptors and A-Wings, they get to slow down, remove stress, and get a lock on that ace they want to hit with the missile. Against aces, they're great, hard to kill, maneuverable blockers. Against lower I generics, they suddenly turn into arc-dodging aces with both linked actions and autofocus.

I still haven't tried the named pilots, but they seem, on paper, a little expensive, especially the Grand Inquisitor. 18 points over a generic, and still just as outmaneuvered by Fel, Vader, Rau and Wedge as the generics. Maybe with Supernatural, but then you're way past Whisper and closing in on Vader territory. I'm thinking Seventh Sister might be worth it, primarily for the extra force token, but I'm not sure yet.

I love the basic Inquisitor, and thought it might be an under-the-radar ship until I read this.

The native force point is awesome, and with the mediocre state of EPTs right now, well worth the 6 points above a Baron. Homing missiles give them some reach for cheap.

I also think that a Boba-defined meta is real bad for TAPs in general. Boba is an absolute beast and I think will be an ever-present threat until some things change, which will prevent me from bringing TAPs to any sort of competitive event until the meta shifts. That being said, we are still way way WAY too early on in 2.0 to claim Boba as Meta King, so I wouldn't fret just yet either.

The only TAP I don't ever see using is Seventh Sister right now.

Okay, I had to give them a go, so I ran the Grand Inquisitor (with Supernatural) alongside Seventh Sister (with Sense). I'm still not entirely convinced by their low damage output, but doing linked actions before a blue 1-turn, a total of three actions with no stress, with the ability to either zoom away or remain more or less in place, was great fun. When they release a missile that actually does damage (I'd like to see Cruise Missiles return; Harpoon, not so much), I'm sure he'll be a contender.

Sense was a nice surprice too. Combined with their maneuverability, this makes them better blockers AND arc-dodgers. I'll definitely replace Perception on the generics with this.

I did OK with one with a generic Inquisitor with Sense the other day. 46 points to look at a dial isn't too pricey, it can block decently, and it can punch decently if left alone in a flank.

@theBitterFig gets it! I wouldn’t run 4 in a list like that, but one is a very nice complimentary tool. It is a blocker par excellance. It is your Phantom’s best friend, acting as a nice anvil for your hammer to hit from.

When I was going through and sorting the conversion kits and saw that they had the generics with force I immediately purchased 2 more of them (I only had one)
