Thanks for this podcast. All of my usual gaming friends have had to bow out as of late due to life. We’re old. I haven’t had a good game going for almost a year. So, I’ve been looking at Roll 20 or Fantasy Grounds as on option. It seems obvious that you two prefer Fatnasy Grounds but my real question is, which is more hassle free for GMs and players?

Fantasy Grounds doesn’t have voice chat? How much work is it to learn at the beginning? Got an open spot? I’d love to give it a try before paying for it, are there many pick up games that will invite a newb? Thanks.

You're very welcome for the podcast! Tony and I are really enjoying it.

Fantasy Grounds is an installed application you need to download and could take some port forwarding configuration on the GMs PC/network to host a game. Roll 20 is an online based / in your web browser application that has it's own issues to get everyone online together. So, that's just a "what and what" there. Fanatasy Grounds does not have voice chat built in, but using Discord or Skype is very easy and free. Roll 20 does have voice chat ... video too I think ... but it's a pain to get everyone to hear everyone as well. ?

Learning curve. Hmmm. Both are intuitive in their own ways, but once you've worked through it and played a couple sessions then people get the hang of it. We don't have an open spot in our games right now, but I think FG Con is just around the corner (Oct 12th - Oct 14th) for you to check out.

Thanks again for listening!
