I love Star Wars, but don't love most of the Star Wars books.

I think some of it is that it's hard to capture the energy of the movies in a 400-600 page book, so the stories wind up bogging down with complication. I know many folks love the Thrawn Trilogy. To me, it feels like Lord of the Rings in Space. It's not bad fiction, but it's not good Star Wars.

Probably top of my list is (...), the Lando Calrissian trilogy, (...)

I've never thought I'd see this written or said ever in my life :D

Uggh I hate the Lando Calrissian Adventures trilogy. I hated them so much that after first reading them a copule of months before Heir to the Empire came out I refused to read any Star Wars novels for almost three years.

As for Traviss definitely an author to avoid unless you want to read every Star Wars novel IMO. Based on both her Star Wars and Halo novels she forms an opinion on characters and organizations in a setting then tries to ram her feelings down the readers's throats while feeling free to ignore any evidence from other material in the franchise that contradicts her beliefs.
