For those who are currently playing using pbp, can you recommend me a good place to establish a L5R campaign? Thanks in advance.
PBP suggestions
There are a lot of play by post games played right on these very forums; particularly in the various Star Wars sections. As such, I see no reason why you couldn't run a PbP for L5R right here.
Tavern Keeper is a great website for PbP.
Thanks guys.
@Tramp Graphics I indeed followed one of the FaD PbP games in the forums, however this time I was looking for a place that have some campaigns running and get some ideas and tips while running mine.
@deraforia Thanks, I like what I did see of Tavern Keeper so far just need to find a L5R campaign and check it out...
I have used http://rpol.net/ for years and it has had several L5R games in the past.
Although, I kind of feel as though the site has died considerably from how it was in the past.
I hadn't seen tavern keeper before, but it is certainly a much newer, nicer looking site than rpol, but... in terms of ease of use and organization, I think rpol has it beat.
I believe opening a discord server for a specific campaign/group would work well since there's so much flexibility with functions and it's available to use in multiple devices.
Also worth noting that someone created a L5R 5e dice rolling bot specifically for Discord.

That made the decision easy for me as well. It's great because I have several friends where we just can't get a regular time scheduled, so pbp is a really good format. As the GM, I just Pin the scene description, so it can be quickly referenced at any time, too.

I am grabbing this for my own purposes. Thank you very much for letting me know it exists!

I was tempted to try RPOL until a friend said not to due to how abusive the staff can be unless one plays nice with them. So since we're both already on the same website, { https://www.roleplaygateway.com } we havent really had need to move off it. Howdever I am tempted to run a 4th edition L5R game on proboards....
I've had disagreements with the moderation choices of RPOL staff, where they seem to offer a looser interpretation of the board rules to some people, or are willing to edit posts rather than delete them entirely. You're in no way required to talk or play with them, to the point where I wouldn't recognise one to comment on their actual personalities. I'd imagine they're involved in some of the more stable and long-lasting games on the site, but there are plenty of others.
Just looking at that site, a public ban list is an invasion of privacy right there. I guess its just me but something like that is a major turn off.
But to each their own. I am working out the details of a L5R campaign to occur on a Probards hosted forum however, its not ready or set up just yet, but soon it will be
I hope

Most BBS packages show when the user has been banned; it's the standard setting almost all BBSs. That RPOL collates them? no biggie.
Heck, on most VBBS systems, one can see when a banned user tries to log in...
(I run one. For another game company.)

I guess I am just too used to privacy matters, on Roleplay Gateway they do have a ban list, but it is kept private for staff use only, not something publicly seen by other users. So I guess I am used to that. But like I said I do plan to run a L5R campaign on a proboards hosted forum.
@AK_Aramis
Mucho thankee for the input
I think its is how I was raised, I myself am a very private person, a list like that breaks said privacy concerns for me.
Nevertheless, to each their own, I do not mean to offend anyone in what I write here, if that has occured, I apologise greatly for any offense I have given as it is not my intent
