HWK and Dash

By JJH_BATMAN, in X-Wing Squad Lists

How do these look? Can't tell which I like better. Also hopefully FFG fixes the Dash/Outrider discrepancy. I'm a little worried about the survivability of the Jan HWK if Dash dies early, but a 6 attack (4+trickshot+Jan ability) die attack at initiative 5 with full mods is awesome. The Kyle HWK is more survivable because shield upgrade and being able to keep a focus for offense/defense mods. Both 200 points total.

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 100
Trick Shot 1
Bistan 14
Outrider 14
Rigged Cargo Chute 4
Ship Total: 133
Kyle Katarn — HWK-290 38
Trick Shot 1
Perceptive Copilot 10
Shield Upgrade 6
Moldy Crow 12

Ship Total: 67

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 100
Trick Shot 1
Bistan 14
Magva Yarro 7
Outrider 14
Rigged Cargo Chute 4
Ship Total: 140
Jan Ors — HWK-290 42
Squad Leader 4
Tactical Officer 2
Moldy Crow 12
Ship Total: 60

Recommendations welcome.

Like your first version, but i would rather give PCop to Dash and make kyle stack some focus before engaging. About the 2nd I haven't tried magva yet.

This is the one i'm testing right now: Jyn erso is awesome, can save you when you are on a pinch, and works well with stealth device

YT-2400 Light Freighter - Dash Rendar - 139
•Dash Rendar - Hotshot Mercenary (100)
Trick Shot (1)
Perceptive Copilot (10)
Outrider (14)
Bistan (14)

HWK-290 Light Freighter - Kyle Katarn - 59
•Kyle Katarn - Relentless Operative (38)
Trick Shot (1)
Jyn Erso (2)
Stealth Device (6)
Moldy Crow (12)

Total: 198/200

Dash/Jan was my go to in 1.0 but due to the change to how both work and the loss of TLT It may not be the best idea anymore, I'd suggest Dash and Kyle for 2.0 as it still gives you some form of action economy on the turns where you can keep Dash in Arc and range of Kyle while keeping Kyle on target.

HWK-290 Light Freighter - Kyle Katarn - 67
•Kyle Katarn - Relentless Operative (38)
Trick Shot (1)
Perceptive Copilot (10)
Stealth Device (6)
Moldy Crow (12)

YT-2400 Light Freighter - Dash Rendar - 133
•Dash Rendar - Hotshot Mercenary (100)
Trick Shot (1)
Stealth Device (6)
Outrider (14)
Han Solo (12)

Total: 200/200

Thanks for the suggestions. One question - is stealth device good? I've always been sceptical about it, even in 1.0. I feel one bad roll with your green dice (which happens too often ?) and there goes those points. Can someone tell me why it's worth it? Thanks.

I always put it on Jan in 1.0 and can't see it being bad in 2.0 - some games you get lucky and it gives you the extra evade you need to never get hit other games lose it first shot. Due to (almost always) having 2 focus you should have one free for defense - you could also try to find the extra point for Elusive for the HWK.

My Dash / Kyle list is nearly the same as Phynoz's list, except I switch Stealth Device to Dash and put Engine Upgrade on Kyle.

The only way you get Stealth Devices on both ships is with Kovu's list above, but I think you're really gonna have a problem against lists that outnumber you if you don't have double taps with Bistan, especially since you likely won't have locks on Dash since he will almost always need to pull focus.

Kyle Katarn (38)
Jyn Erso (2)
Engine Upgrade (3)
Moldy Crow (12)

Dash Rendar (100)
Trick Shot (1)
Bistan (14)
Perceptive Copilot (10)
Stealth Device (6)
Outrider (14)

Total: 200

knute! that configuration makes more sense! the opponent will try to kill kyle fast! instead of dash. My take on the list is to try to make kyle less of a threat so he can stay behind getting free hits while passing evades on a running dash, still testing trick shot vs elusive on kyle:

HWK-290 Light Freighter - Kyle Katarn - 61
•Kyle Katarn - Relentless Operative (38)
Elusive (3)
Jyn Erso (2)
Stealth Device (6)
Moldy Crow (12)

YT-2400 Light Freighter - Dash Rendar - 139
•Dash Rendar - Hotshot Mercenary (100)
Trick Shot (1)
Perceptive Copilot (10)
Outrider (14)
Bistan (14)

Total: 200/200

This list is brutal...i mean like ppl throwing damage cards and rage quitting brutal.

I'm generally inclined to pair Dash with Jan...but the double I7 attacks of Roark is...insane. Though I'd rather use PerCo than Saw to be less...suicidal. I'd go:

Dash

Title

TS

Han

PerCo

Roark

Title

Composure

Lando

Protons

I really enjoy the squad leader/tac officer Roark build to give Dash more actions, the list hits like a truck with often 2x 5 dice attacks (lock + focus on one, focus on other) on each of the first 2-3 combat rounds at I7.

Games tend end to hinge on variance though as you usually lose the hwk after that and it just comes down to - have you killed enough to win from there?
