I play thematically, so I like having enough ships available to either replicate battles from Canon or Legends sources or to create my own scenarios inspired by them. So, for example, my Battle of Atollon recreation requires 6 ISDs, 2 Interdictors, and 2 Arquitens for the Imperial side.

I'm not well off, actually quite the opposite. I plan my purchases out and try to save for them a little every week. I'm also working some overtime right now, so some of that money is going towards the purchase of a couple of ships next week.

I do both. I have used it as a substitute for the MC80 Liberty type in a couple games, just for variety. I also have custom material designed for it on KDYards, which I have used in a game. I plan to use the custom material more, once I get my Hunt for Zsinj campaign up and running.

Some have 7 ISDs, some consider buying second SSDs before even it is released,

No wonder you guys are craving for more waves ( i think this post alone should turn FFG exec heads to the right direction)

I thought I was a bit of a showoff when I had fleets from both sides and had a total number of ships of 21 and total number of 7 squadron packs,

now I realize I have a tiny fleet compared to you guys,

how do you even store so many ships?

I started 2016 and love to buy Armada stuff second hand and wait for a 3rd Rogue&Villain and 3rd Raider delivery this week. I paint my ships and squadrons although I thought that to be superfluous and crazy. (And it was annoying to paint endless rows of TIE solar panels.)

4 CR90 Corvettes (Core Set, 2 Expansions and another CR90 without cards, I got for free)
3 Nebulon-B Expansion (Core Set, 1 Expansion and a second Core Set Nebulon which was a bargain)

I never would buy an expansion for upgrade cards! I want to own and shove the plastic models. (So no Vassal.) I nearly always tried out to play all ships, but in wasn't always successful.

I think it's crazy to buy 7 ISDs. (But if I could get another for a low price, I could maybe be sorely tempted.)

I work every week some hours at the Armada wiki and love to make excel-files about Armada stats.

But I could stop tomorrow, if I would decide to ...

For Empire all I'm limiting myself a second Victory Expansion and Spaceball 1... maybe a third Arquitens, a third Gladiator and a second Imperial squadrons 1. For Rebels I'd like 3 boxes of Hammerheads, the Liberty expansion, 2 MC30s and the Profundity. Someone bought up all the local Hammerheads to field a 6 Hammerhead list, not fun on the receiving end but I want to try it. I'd like more A-Wings and Headhunters but not the rest of the Rebel Squadron packs.

I'd paint my TIE Fighters but there's just too many of them! The rest are painted and my Imperial ships have some accents painted on and I've repainted the stripes on the Nebulons and CR-90s to have a red, a yellow, and a blue for each.
