Do you have reasons or just Rando-picking like LTD?

Ovi's flavour has gone beyond the point a simpleton like me can keep up.

Ok, I'm here now! LP, what's your proposal for a non-standard hunt, presuming revealing it isn't going to give away any good information to scummers.

GAMBIT!!

So we still have a Doc out there and Cal and GJ and myself have burnished our Town credentials.

The gambit I’ve been considering whilst bathing in bacta was the advantages/disadvantages of organising a mass claim reveal. I know this is highly unorthodox but a blue skinned Lt. I once knew at Royal Academy told me of a scenario in which a mass reveal turned the tables on scum completely. Normally I would not even suggest we countenance thinking of such a thing but:

- you guys know I’m likely (although not certain I grant you) loyal thanks to these blaster wounds (so my fear of making what on the surface seems so utterly scum friendly a suggestion are reduced)

- Me and Cal and GJ are likely more at risk than most because we are higher likelihood loyalists

- the Role Madness nature of the threats we face on board the Katana mean we have more power when we act but can cause more confusion by our actions

  • good strategy would suggest we therefore try to find a way to maximise our strengths (our power roles) whilst mitigating our weaknesses (our ability to confuse each other with those said same power roles)

So what am I proposing?

Two possibilties:

1) A mass reveal. All of us say who we are. We then plot the best way to leverage our power roles. We can assign watches that way to avoid duplication and examine suspects. We can do things like protect the cop with the Doc. We can work out to a far higher degree of probability who scum will be forced to kill and in what order. And instead of there being just three of us exposed with our necks on the line tonight there will be all of us. Plus at least one or two players will be lying with their reveal(s) and this will be easier to expose too.

2) a group planning exercise to take the sum of the powers we have and allocate tasks for the night accordingly in such a way as to maximise their efficacy and minimise duplication. We lose surprise but we gain organisation.

Closer examination of either scenario may prove that it is indeed fatally flawed (in which case sorry for wasting people’s time and brainpower that could be used on the scumhunt - indeed my biggest reason for not just proposing this when I first awoke from bacta was the danger of distracting Town too much) but it might be that when we all look at the power roles available we can see a path through to using them to terminate the scum with extreme prejudice.

A mass reveal

You can see why I spent a long time reflecting on whether to even propose it!

I am intiqued at the idea. Definitely open discussing. But since this is only my second game I’m not sure how much use I’ll be in sorting out the nuances.

[Also, be advise, heading to bed here shortly and a very busy day tomorrow so my availability will be limited.]

Thanks GJ. For either 1) or 2) we would have to take the roles lists and work out what the optimal distribution of actions would be to uncover threats and protect key assets. If you wanted to pursue the idea/help than have a look at the lists when you’re offline and think about how you would want them to play out to kill scum. And then think about the fact that there is at least one more (and probably actually at least two) more threat.

Or feel free to just say - don’t be silly LP! :)

ok

I dont think we should mass claim just yet as theres still alot of basic mafia tells etc you should be looking for first, and outside of the result, mass claim can unravel a whole setup way too fast, and it looks like clon put the hours into getting the flavour in here.

What we can do is post along the lines of

Hypotheticals

If i was the cop i would investigate player x because

If i was doc i would protect player z.

Scum will struggle to give genuine reasons for there hypos as the game progresses

this will really help the town vig narrow his focus

I think right now the parties involved know what roles they have, which is good for town bad for scum. I agree with Pod's suggestion, but post these in a way so as not to give away your role.

I’m very happy with that. And I especially don’t want to do something that would break @clontroper5 game after the effort that he put in as you say Pod.

I like the idea of proceeding with multiple hypotheticals. That will help achieve my original goals of leveraging Town power and reducing self imposed confusion.

Everyone should be able to give a list of Town/null/scumleans RN even if the reads arent the strongest

With 24 hours or so left I think its important we all start giving the names in our bottom percentiles.in the next say 14 hours so we can have ten hours to get our wagons in order.

Lets not have a bodged job lynch today.

If I were a cop, I’d investigate @PodRacer for his sheer rate of voting. Counting redundancies, he’s voted 10 times in 2 days. That’s a great way to test for trains. I can’t think of much more Pod could do to raise my suspicion, since I don’t understand his choices half the time.

This is a good observation.

Anyone I have voted for so far has fallen into my Hypo cop range is the TLDR.

As town my vote is my weapon, mounted pressure leads to the slot producing more content. IMO more people should be voting more often and giving read nonstop for the next 14 hours or so.

Hopefully Re reading my play in context makes my thought train easier to follow.

You would have been well within your rights to make that observation and move you vote to me.. its intention signalling if you will.

Unless you strongly TR Ovi rn (and you should state why you do) hes a good slot to pressure. Dont lynchhim while im sleeping tho ?

Still at work, but I'll drop a vote. Basically, I agree with pod that we need to be dropping more pressure. I don't have anything particular on ovi, but there hasn't really been any response to these votes. Things need to get real.

## vote ovi

Fair enough, that was actually a pretty good explanation. Say something, sheep.

##vote @ovinomanc3r

##vote Onidsen

Doesn’t have many posts but the reason for that was explained

but in his vote, I get quite a scummy feeling of trying to spark more a divide of “should we really vote for them” while also putting down his vote on a scum-mate to get cred at the flip if it goes that way

I want to say, dont worry about the work I put into this, most of it is done and the rest I make up as I go along! I dont really care what you do as long as you have fun, and I will do my best to make sure everyone has fun! (also never forget I have reserved alot of power for myself in the form of Special events, MUHAHAHAHAHA!!)

I've not said anything for some hours, but then I have nothing more to say.

I don't think a mass role claim is a very good idea at this point - I think we have the scum on the back foot and things are going well.

Good night all!

If that's the case, why not just lynch his scum buddy first, then lynch him? At least we got the scum buddy, right?

Anyway, I agree ovi has been acting a bit suspiciously, but I am not sure if it is worth voting on. Maybe just to add a bit of pressure? He hasn't responded to piling on of votes for hours. Is that because he is busy, can't offer a defense, or hopes it will all blow over? To find out:

##vote ovi

That's L-2, so maybe he will see the seriousness of it?

I'm getting the feeling people are voting for ovi just cuz hes not posting. I don't feel comfortable with that at this point.

Just waking up so will try to go back and read but I'm a little lost at what the initial case against him was.
