Sith Takers Youtube channel

By Rich P, in X-Wing

Our local team's resident excellent person James has started producing video battle reports of games between some of our players.

Players are interviewed between turns to get perspective on their tactical choices, decisions and opinions.

Man, just started this but the production quality is absolutely great. ?

Looking forward to watching it right through.

Thanks - I'll pass on to James! Improvements already made for video 2 are a dice box and more top down shots to show the wider board state... he's hoping to produce a new video every 2ish weeks! :D

I was going to mention the fact you can't see the board too well, nice one.

Being super picky, maybe a few of the transitions are a bit too long, people (me) have very short attention spans!

Great work so far ?

Not a fan of the shaky cam and moving empire/rebel logos, makes me dizzy. Would be nice to have a whole-board shot for when moving ships so that we can appreciate how it looks like on the whole game map. Maybe reserve those close-up shots for when firing and checking for distance.

Whats the playmat you guys are using?

I like the shaky logos, like a space transmission!

I do too, but they're too shaky! They just need an infrequent wobble now and then... as it is made me feel like the screen was broken or something.

Good to see the familiar faces from Element Games! Need to get down to Stockport again at some point.

Great video guys! Thanks for sharing it. I can't wait for the next one. :)

Just a starfield mat at the minute I think.

I promise to watch. I will also leave you feedback. Anything that adds something new to X-Wing broadcadting is welcome!

Second episode is ready and will be uploaded in the morning!

Great work, great watch, keep em coming ?

I'll start with my one criticism. When you are using the zoomed in shots to show movement, it's hard to know the impact the movement on the game because there is no wide shot (i.e. the usual full table camera you see on the likes of Gold Squadron), and thus it is hard to picture the game state. May I suggest you show the table before and after the movement phase.

Things I liked:

Good level of prodction

The editing out of empty play time e.g. when players are setting dials. There's no need for the viewer to see this.

Some nice shots of the ships when in combat.

The "talking heads" segment between turns. Hearing the players thoughts actually gives you some insight into the tactics being used.

Also I see that you play at quite a large gaming store. Does this mean we will be seeing plenty of other players? Even if you have regulars, having the odd guest on to play games gives more variation in playing style and lists.

new episode up - hopefully you can see that James (host and brains behind the operation) has taken on a lot of the existing feedback.

James has a filming schedule with no repeat players for the next 4 weeks, including some visitors. Guests welcome. We film on Wednesday afternoons near Stockport

Two local players go head to head in what was nearly a Dash off but turned into a Dash/wedge vs 4 ship rebel salad.

Definitely give a brief overhead shot of the whole table every once in a while to see the game state, but otherwise very nice.

Video 1 is the only one that lacks the overhead shots. James took that feedback on very early!

Thanks for watching

Started watching this a while ago - they're excellent videos... I remember James from his hibbit SBG youtube, which was equally well produced

So glad you guys are posting again, I was thinking you had given up.

Great work, great watch, keep em coming 😊
