Iron Throne Edition Starter

By khunkwai, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hi All

We've been looking at getting some of the old Iron Throne Editions Starter Boxes in order to get new people into the game, however they all look like they have the same two houses in them "Lannister and Stark" is that the case for every ITE Starter or is the house selection in each one random?

Tks

Chris

Hi, only a question... why to start with Iron Throne that is rotated and no more legal for standard games? It should be better to start with a Core Set I think that also contains 4 houses and it is legal ;-)

Sure, we would love too...but it is out of stock and FFG have had no supplies for around 3-4 months now and no sign of any more arriving soon. We want people to start to learn the game, and as the ITE edition uses the same card format as the boxed set it is a perfect starter and also a cheaper way to get people into the game.

Hi khunkwai,

Yes unfortunately all of the Iron Throne Edition starter packs are Lannister / Stark. I think the Five Kings Edition ones are all Stark / Targaryen.

if this can help in some UK stores Core Set is in stock. iguk.co.uk for example...

Is it really? Personally I would prefer to spend money on new cards. The cheapest way to start play now is Princes of the Sun expansion.

I'm not sure what the best ordering options are where you are in the world, but the Core Set is still available from some retailers like Barnes and Noble for the suggested retail price. I guess it depends on your playgroup. The people I play with just play LCG so buying old starters would be less efficient in the long run than buying the more expensive core set since I could use the Core Set cards for longer, but that's a judgment call.

Thanks for the replies. We're over in Thailand so its not so easy for us to get access to the games from other retail stores :)

Yes True, but not everyone wants to play Greyjoy or Martell :)
