Plough the Field - An Imperial Plan.

By Sonikgav, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So with so many people seeming to be embracing Trick Shot Han and the fact there's more than a couple of cards that like a field covered in debris i was wondering the best use of Seismic Charges and Trajectory Simulator. Punishers seem like a good shout, maybe 2 Loaded up to remove a few rocks and then an Ace/Swarm to guard them and take advantage of the open board?

Anyone got any ideas as a Template? I can't help but overload the Punishers when i try to build them.

So far i have this..

"Deathrain" (42)
Trajectory Simulator (3)
Cluster Missiles (5)
Seismic Charges (3)
Proximity Mines (6)

Cutlass Squadron Pilot (36)
Trajectory Simulator (3)
Seismic Charges (3)

Cutlass Squadron Pilot (36)
Trajectory Simulator (3)
Seismic Charges (3)

Total: 143

Punishers are great, and there are alot of ways to build them, but I found my baseline is this:

Cutlass (36)

-Barrage Rockets (6)

-TS (3)

-Proton Bombs (5)

-Seismics (3)

53 points

This is a great mainstay of any imperial list, and could support many arch types (I've had good success with 2 aces, as well as 3 gunboat). They hit above their weight class with BR. Now, notice Ablative is missing. I feel this is a luxury for the generic. If you plan a seismic just right, you won't take the damage. Also, the flexibility of Seismics and protons is not to be understated.

From here, you can add Ablative, get a named pilot, maybe add APT...whatever you desire, but I feel the 53 point guy is efficient and mean.

Ok so...

"Deathrain" (42)
Trajectory Simulator (3)
Cluster Missiles (5)
Seismic Charges (3)
Proximity Mines (6)

Cutlass Squadron Pilot (36)
Trajectory Simulator (3)
Barrage Rockets (6)
Proton Bombs (5)
Seismic Charges (3)

Cutlass Squadron Pilot (36)
Trajectory Simulator (3)
Barrage Rockets (6)
Proton Bombs (5)
Seismic Charges (3)

Total: 165

45 Points for an Ace/Support. 41 if i put Ablative on Deathrain. Maybe less if those Protons turn into Proximities.

35 pts not 45. 200-165=35. You could fit a bare Striker, an Aggressor with a dorsal turret or a Ruthless Black Squadron Ace with Hull upgrade to act as a flank guard leaving 1 point left.

Ok so i've looked through my options and here is a rough idea of the various ships i could drop into the above list for 35 points or less.

1. Nu Squadron Pilot (35) (Alpha Class Star Wing)

2. Baron of the Empire (34) (TIE Advanced Prototype)
Marksmanship (1)

3. Sienar Specialist (30) (TIE Aggressor)
Dorsal Turret (4)

4. Alpha Squadron Pilot (34) (TIE Interceptor)

5. Planetary Sentinel (34) (TIE Striker)

6. "Scourge" Skutu (32) (TIE Fighter)
Predator (2)

7. Tomax Bren (34) (TIE Bomber)
Crack Shot (1)

Obviously in the case of the Named guys there are various cheaper named pilots/generics that could also be taken with a few points left over for upgrades. Other options is to drop some of the ordnance and have 45+ for the support but will have to see. Im kinda leaning towards the Baron of the Empire but i can see the advantage of a high Initiative TIE.

Is that one squad? If so you need to recalculate the points cost. The list sits at 171with Nu, Seinar, Alpha, Baron and Planetary. Adding either Bren or Scourge kicks it up over 200pts.

No, each of those are an option that i could drop into the Punisher list.

Got it. All I can suggest is test them out and see which one you like more. Others might have more insight than that. :)

4x Cutlasses with TS, Seismics, Barrage Rockets, and Skilled Bombardiers should be able to clear the board of obstacles in a turn or two, hopefully dealing damage along the way, then rip the rest with rockets.
