App sucks.

By tsuruki, in X-Wing

Just laying down the pressure here.

App sucks. I cant even browse it if I'm offline.

Remember the hate the game industry started to try and make people play sandboxy games online only? (Simcity!). People HATED it.

Why on earth cant I browse the card collection when I'm offline? On the go even!?

Also its a huge drag....... I cant see dials anywhere and brawsing / adding ships to a list takes too long. The question "Are you sure you wanna remove this" when I delete ships is also redundant!

Shrink stuff down! We aren't making lists on a Nokia 3310! Remove all the art! Give us concise scrollable lists!

GRRR GRRR GRRR. The outdated Android "Squadron Builder" is still the very best program to develop lists to date! ("Yet another" would beat it if it could save lists and manage the collection).

Other then the app tho, great job with 2.0, having lotsa fun here. Thanks for this great refresh to a great game.

If you mean the Yet Another Squad Buildre website, it does both of those.

Yeah, the lack of an offline mod for the app is very disappointing, on top of some quality of life issues. We’ll see how well the app can evolve to better serve the player base.

On a positive note, despite still being corrupted, The Unofficial Squadron Builder now seems like a dream.

You know what else did both of these and even more? Because it was simply amazing? Aurora squadbuilder on iOS, you should check it out... rumor has it that the creator will eventually give in and make one for 2.0

I’d like that, loved Aurora.

Yeah, the app is bad for now, very bad. I won't use it. The website is good and i am glad, it would be a big deal for me if the app was good but the web wasn't.

But honey, V2 is a big change, the app is super new. There is a lot of new things in the game. I am okay to wait for next release. It could take months, but I am sure it will improve.

My initial thoughts on the app can be best summed up as:

1. I didn't pay anything for it

2. All the point costs are elsewhere so I don't need it

In short, I'm pretty ambivalent about how buggy it is and how many features don't work or aren't offered. I had to pay for Warroom to play Warmachine and even with it's newer version still runs like a quadriplegic in a swimming pool, spends forever checking for updates even when I'mnot even online and sometimes arbitrarily refuses to pull my lists.

If it's still crap in a few months, my status will get upgraded to "somewhat put out".

Doing a bit of self-advertising here...

If you are looking for an offline app (Android) and some features that you might find missing, you may want to try this builder developed by me (find links here ) for Android and web browsers (you won't find it in any app store)

At least they acknowledge there is problems. It has been updated 3 times already. I actually like its design. It just needs rid of the bugs.

Actually built and saved two squads this afternoon. Can't figure out how to retrieve them yet.

The app is functioning on the Kindle but not intuitive and mind of clunky.

Unusable; the entire purpose of the app is predicated on accuracy for the potentially-shifting point values and ship slots.

When a ship is missing slots, or an upgrade doesn't unlock an added slot, you can't effectively build squads.

Until it VASTLY improves, I'm avoiding this malware and using the vastly-superior YASB. (Also going to try Launch Bay).

Stop posting comments about what YASB 2.0 can do and start posting comments on what Aurora can do in 2.0!
We need you back in the game man, quit slacking!

I would recommend this one. Its superb. Been using for the past 8 months or so. I was put off by the look of the UI at first but it runs sooo well, has everything you need, the layout is so nice. Very intuitive.

I second this, Aurora is amazing. I still have it downloaded in hopes of it getting an eventual 2.0 update. In the meantime, PDF!

Were you logged in? They should be under your Saved Squads.

Word!

But all of that has been fixed as far as I know.

I think I was. Have to check to be sure.

Thanks for the tip.

Edit:

Pretty sure I was since I could save the builds. I think the problem was when I used the back arrow. From where I was it wouldn't take me back to the initial screen. But I wouldn't rule out operator error.

How do you know it's missing slots? Serious question.

When it first came out it would not add slots from upgrades like the Marauder title. They fix it pretty fast with the first few patches thou.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks!

The web builder is very clunky on my Kindle Fire. It also keeps randomly sending me back to a "Download the mobile app" screen. Very annoying since I can't download the mobile app to that device. The web builder also locked up on me. It also has problems with randomly changing the zoom level.

Loves Aurora, but seeing how its not updated for 2.0 anymore, my new go to is LaunchBayNext which is also really good. Extremely well done. Way better than the "official" app. IMO launchbaynext is the official app.

HWK is missing one of its two Mod slots, AFAIK.
