Recurring Force Charges

By FabulousFuhrer, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The rulebook states force charges operate exactly like normal charges, but the rules reference says you only regenerate one force per round, no matter how many recurring force charges you have. Which one is correct?

rules ref trumps the rulebook.

Really annoying that theres two documents to begin with. You only generate 1 force, regardless of how many sources of it you got.

Example: Kanan Jarrus (VCX-100) , equipped with Ezra Bridger (gunner) and Maul (crew) would have a total force rating of 4, yet only be able to recover one at the end of the round (with Maul allowing you to regen more force in a pinch).

The only disclaimer in this regard I'd say is Luke Skywalker. While it is true he like the others can only regain 1 Force per round at the end of the round, if he becomes a defender he also regenerates a Force charge as well.

"After you become the defender, (before dice are rolled) you may recover 1 force"

The reason for the difference is this:

latest?cb=20180731231142 210?cb=20180731224522 210?cb=20180731193311

What these have in common is that they don't have a 'force stat'. They add +1 and the '1-up' arrow to the force stat of the pilot to whom they are attached .

Since that pilot only has one force stat, and can only have the 1-up arrow once (which most pilots - I think all? - with a starting force score already have), they can still only recover 1 force per turn unless (like Luke) they have another trigger to recover force charge.

By comparison:

210?cb=20180731192734 210?cb=20180731223156

each have their own separate charge count, which is recovered separately, and can each have a '1-up' arrow of its own.

For a similar (probably no better worded) comparison, consider Lando's falcon:

latest?cb=20180608234701 210?cb=20180625161953 latest?cb=20180625164157

Imagine if Lando's falcon and L3-37 both had the '1-up' on its shields score, and you bought it a super-special shield upgrade (can't find a decent picture) that also had a '1-up' on the "+1 shield".

Because the shield upgrade just adds a shield and a '1-up' arrow to Lando, you get a 4th shield token but don't recover 2 shields per turn because you can't have a second '1-up' arrow on the same stat; and you've already got one.

If you bought the title and docked L3-37, and she had a '1-up' arrow, though, you can effectively recover 2 shields per turn, because you have two separate piles of shields you can draw from against any incoming damage, each of which can have a '1-up' arrow

Thanks for the clarification, everyone. I was guessing the rule reference was right because regenerating multiple would be too strong, but I didn't want to assume.
