Can Xwings take Daredevil?

By RittsMJ, in X-Wing Rules Questions

After reading the rules reference I think they can. If they have their sfoilsclothes they have a white boost. Therefore put sfoils closed on an X-Wing then add Daredevil. They could still only use the Daredevil with the sfoils closed, but I think it allows them to take Daredevil.

Apologies if this is already posted. I did a quick search and didn't see it.

EDIT - this was the 1e ruling that may now be wrong

No, they cannot equip Daredevil.

With double-sided cards, you don't choose which side is up until setup, so during list building S-foils do not give X-wings access to Boost.

the app lets you equip either side and even lets you put daredevil on the ship in question if you've equipped the s-foils closed, so i guess for now it's legal. O_o

can't find anything that would disallow it in the rules. nexttwelveexits might be right, though. you don't get to place your cards on the table before setup.

This is the 1e rule. Can you cite a 2e equivalent? I don't have the rr to hand to check.

The rules reference and rulebook does not, as far as I can see, explicitely mention dual or double-sided cards - so, lacking any further clarification, the FFG app is the closest thing we have to precedent; it is an official FFG product, unlike any 1.0 squad builders, so options shown in it can be considered 'correct' or at least 'authoritatively wrong' until officially stated otherwise, and hence I guess, you can take daredevil, provided you specifically deploy your S-foils closed on the first turn (which you probably would anyway)

Although, interestingly, the rules reference does include the following text

"Enigmatic Gunslinger
After you perform a ?? or ?? action,
you may flip your equipped ?? upgrade
card if it is a dual card."

- have a search of the on-line rules-reference - there's a load of invisible text on page 3....

lol wut. The word ''enigmatic' appears a bunch of times actually.

I won't trust the app until such time as it's reliably accurate in other areas, to be honest. If it can't get, e.g. variable cost upgrades right, I'll look to PDFs first.

Agreed, but hence 'authoritatively wrong' - in the same way the .PDFs are available for people who don't or can't get the App, the same is supposed to be true in reverse; unlike Battlescribe or YASB or what have you, "The FFG App lets me do it" is a viable argument for "FFG think this interaction works".

Obviously some of the stuff in the App may be a load of fetid dingoes kidneys, but that's FFG's problem to sort out, and

lacking a conflicting statement elsewhere it's the only meaningful precedent to go on.

Along with quite a bit of supporting text

Managed to dig out enough text to identify it:

latest?cb=20180606155108

For some reason, the text from Kulbee's pilot card is pasted several times 'behind' the rules reference's background image.

o_O

Weird

E: and like I say, I won't trust the app until it proves itself trustworthy; we need some action from FFG on that score and soon. Plus tourney rules etc.
