Is FFG a subsidiary of Disney?

By Number16, in X-Wing Squad Builder

Given that the Privacy statement goes to Disney I think it's reasonable to assume that.

I think some communication with a higher level will be in order soon regarding this abysmal release.

To say FFG dropped the ball on this one is an understatement, I dont think they even HAD the ball.

Let's see if this listing gets published.

No, they are a licensee of Disney, not a subsidiary.

EDIT: sorry, licenser

As a licensee of Disney, it's an obligation of the licensor to maintain the integrity of the brand that's being licensed. So if you feel that strongly, I'm sure Disney would like to hear your perspective.

That said, two observations:

1. It's hard to say that FFG has done a poor job of taking their license and not fostering the growth of the brand in this space or selling knock-off quality components. They certainly haven't been sitting on the license and letting it wither.

2. Their big mistake with the Squad Builder was not labeling it as a Beta or Public Beta release - to set expectations properly. The Builder should have had (and could still use) a prominent link to the PDF point lists as a backup. With those two steps, lots of angst could have been avoided during this initial release cycle.

Of course, I've only been playing this game for a month or so... but have been consistently surprised by how well the entire game is designed. And the reboot seems to be a great update to the game - I know I like the new rules much better.

But my expectation for the initial App launch was much higher - largely because of the expectations set by FFG; but I'm not surprised that a brand new app by a non-software company was launched with problems. And as long as they fix the problems (which seems to be happening), I'm good and will keep playing - having joined a local XWing club.
