Having some identity issues, need help.

By Crayon, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I've been playing for a few months now, but I think we've only played 7 or so games. So my big issue right now I think is I'm trying to do too many things. I like having a big ship in my list to act as the cornerstone/flag ship, I like having a fleet of smaller ships to give activations but also they look nice and cenimatic. And I like having a big squadron presence. I think I need a little help, or a slap in the face reality check that I just can't do what I want.

This list went ok, I lost the squadron fight horribly, he had as many squadrons but most of them were some pretty good aces that supported each other very well. And it's possibly that I only lost when the MC75 flew off the map, but his ISD was also out of a lot of the fighting chasing down dodondas pride (we did Most wanted)

Can I get any help? I don't even care if it's a whole new list, I'm only missing the liberty and hammer heads.

The MC75 really want at least one of the weapon upgrade filled, and the MC30 needs Admonition. The CR90a should just be Jaina's Light with TRCs. You should drop the B wings for A wings. The B wings have nothing supporting them (AFFM, Fighter Cordination Team). Those 6 points you get from dropping the B wings could go to XI7s for the MC75. Also, a GR75 with Comms Net is much cheaper than the Raymus/Tantive IV combo. Consider dropping your X wings for a GR75 with CN, and use the extra points for more upgrades on the '75 ( Damage Control Officer?).

There’s nothing wrong with a combination of a large ship and several small ships. I think you need to decide what role you want your squadrons to play. If you want them to focus on ship killing you need to build your fleet around them so that you have dedicated carriers and intel squadrons. If you haven’t already, check out these squadrons articles http://cannotgetyourshipout.blogspot.com/p/squadrons-index.html?m=1 which provide some excellent advice.

I think with Dodonna I would change the MC75 to an ordnance cruiser with ordnance experts to increase the damage output and the chance of dealing face up damage, maybe with APTs as well. Though you have to get up close and personal.

As @schmidty1701 said, definitely stick the Admonition title on the MC30 and switch the Tantive IV and Raymus for Jaina’s Light and get a GR75 Comms Net in there to pass tokens or command squadrons.

Ok, I'm going to re read that article. But something I see everywhere is "admonition is better than foresight, if you know when to use it" but something I never see is "when to use admonition abilities"

if i switch the MC75 to the ordinance and use it more for beating thingns, will I be hurting myself in the squadron area?

On a Mc30 Torpedo you want Admonition over Foresight as you want to get in close. When up close you're less likely to be able to use your Evade tokens so the Admo title give you a use for them. You also don't have that many shields so if you get a big hit you can spend a Redirect and then discard the spent Redirect.

On a Scout Torpedo Foresight can be better if you're shooting from range you're more likely to get a change to use your Evade tokens.

It mainly depends if you are likely to get big hits at close range vs lots of hits spread out over longer range.

Obviously with Mothma Foresight is particularly useful.
