Luke, Sabine, Miranda

By FriendofYoda, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was able to win pretty handily yesterday with a Luke, Sabine, Shara list - but I'm thinking Miranda would be a better use of those points (especially given how the list flew like triple aces and Doni is just so much faster).

Luke (X-Wing): R2-D2, S-Foils, Stealth Device, Supernatural Reflexes (88)

Sabine (Attack Shuttle): Juke (42)

Miranda (K-Wing): Barrage Rockets, Adv Proton Torps, Proton Bombs (65)

(195)

The speed and maneuverability of this list is great fun and if Luke gets to the late game he is really solid. My only 2 concerns are: 1) The init is a little all over the place, Doni/Wren are both great blockers vs high init stuff, but for a triple ace style list 345 isn't great. 2) Firepower. I'm not 100% convinced the list punches hard enough and perhaps dropping the APT from Miranda and giving up some of the bid for Proton Torps on Luke would correct that a little. But I think it would have a hard time getting damage through on defenders or an arc dodger like Soontir.

Miranda is...terrible. Just not worth the points imo. I'd rather take Esege any day, or just a warden. Unless you are flying a Kamikaze Squad and Miranda eats herself. But the other 2 ships don't feel like that.

She's there instead of Esege purely for the -2 points and +1 initiative. As the ships fly so far apart, I don't think Esege is worth his points, however I'm open to other ship options completely instead of that K-Wing.

Maybe instead of miranda, you take norra with ICT, proton bombs, and maybe adv. Proton torps if you want to keep the list's flavor.

Sabine is a good blocker, but if you want a good blocker, Intimidation Arvel is the way to go in my opinion, since you still get a shot, reduce the agility, and you can boost into them if you mess up, and the extra green helps you stay alive long enough to get there.

Luke seems fine, I've never been a fan of stealth device, but if it works for you than go ahead!

That's my take, hope I helped!

Intimidation Arvel is always a great shout, love slamming into lower init stuff too and then becoming Wedge!

I played the list with Miranda yesterday and won, but I did feel there were better uses for the points - however torps on Luke worked really well with force making it a double modded shot.

So alternative options:

Kyle Katarn: Moldy Crow, Jyn Erso, Engine Upgrade, Trick Shot (56)

Thane Kyrell: Predator, S-Foils, R2 Astro (56)

Wedge Antilles: S-Foils, Outmaneuver (58)

The first two give me a 5 point bid with loaded Luke and Juke Sabine, Wedge taking me to a 3 point bid. Kyle seems to go well with Luke, being able to throw him an evade to help him keep he stealth device active, they all have boost to keep with with the triple ace style theme. Thane/Wedge have the higher init values and do more damage, although I sense with Wedge he will always be the first target and go down fast.

MOLDY CROW, MOLDY CROW.

SOOOO Good.

Solid offensively AND supportively

Definitely give it a try, you think he will survive more than Thane even with 3 less hp (including the regen charges)?

I tend to think so. Either way, I think with his mix of offensive AND defensive stacking AND support, he's a better investment either way

I flew basically this lost today, but had Kyle with all the bells and whistles instead of Miranda.

I also had Torps instead of Stealth on Luke, and a dorsal turret on Sabine.

Turns out that between Kyle’s and Sabines humble 2 dice turrets i did most damage to the enemy, even more than luke’s fully modded Torps.
