Not enough YT-2000 threads

By Hiroshiro, in X-Wing

I just ordered all the X-Wing 2.0 products. But honestly I just want to fly Ace around in his YT-2000. Is that really so much to ask for?

Hear Hear. We have Emon already. Let's get Ace and some sort of Slicer card for Aeron (Selu and Sabra titles could be cool too but probably a far cry). But mostly yes, Otana!

Didn't Aeron fly the Otana in one mission? She could be a lower initiative pilot as well as a crew.

Pardon my ignorance but what faction would this fall under?

The Rebellion (and Empire probably to a similar degree) is gonna be running low on ship options while the rest of the newer factions are pumping new stuff out, so I’d say it’s more likely we see this sexy ship if it can fit in there. Scum already has way more options released.

Double allegiance ship is fine I think. Rebels and Scum should be allowed to use the ship.

I think you might be right. I'd love to see it.

Scum, it is the catch all and would mean that we could fly the Azameen family together and would have one protagonist from each of the X-Wing games in each of the three OT factions.

Could be the first bowtie arc ship with a cannon slot. So long as they don't ever release a flat damage, full arc cannon, like the old Mangler or HLC it shouldn't be too overpowered to have three arcs covered.

I never really felt like there was a niche for it in 1e, with the Outrider basically doing everything the Otana would, but all the new arc mechanics have opened up a ton of design space.

I'd probably go for Ace, Aeron and Tomaas as pilots, with Emkay as crew. Yes, technically he pilots it whenever you're in the gun turret, but it's such a basic autopilot that I reckon it's better represented by him having some crew function. I'm thinking maybe he gives whatever ship he's on the Calculate action, and lets you perform a free Calculate if there's a ship in your turret arc after you perform a blue maneuver. Something that interacts with the turret arc (i.e the pilot taking the gunnery seat) like that.

Yeah, I agree. Bit weird to have a Rebel pilot in the faction called Scum and Villainy , but I'd roll with it for the symmetry and for getting to fly Ace with Emon.

I'm thinking Ace's ability should be something like rolling an extra die with his turret if it's out the front arc (to represent how you'd spent a lot of the time in the Otana with your weapons linked forward) or something that involves gaining a disarm token to regen a shield or perform a boost (X-Wing power management mechanics).

Aeron should do something involving giving out Jam tokens.

During 1.0 era I made an homemade expansion for Azzameen Family and Viraxo Combine (and converted/refitted/scratched build the ships) and played for fun with friends. It was an all scum and villany war. And was one of the happyest moment of xwing gameplay. I plan to redo again for 2.0

I could see this being a dual faction ship with cards/dials for the YT-1300 and Firespray for the Rebellion and Scum. It'd be curious to see how they differentiate a stock YT-1300 compared to either of the CURRENT Falcons. Definitely a single turret with less shields and hull than the Classic Falcon and Lando's.

As for the YT-2000, it's gotta be near 100 points bare. 1 crew, a gunner, a cannon slot or two? (it did have an ion cannon and a laser cannon in the game)

I think they should make each ship of the family for one faction, without doing dual-faction releases. Those seem to be mostly gone. Otana for Rebels. Selu and Sabra for S&V.

But! Give a title, or at least a crew card, that allows taking it in the other relevant faction if another member of the family is there.

I could see them doing a box that includes cards for the Firespray, YT-1300, and whatever else ships they had. Include in the titles the cross-faction possibility when having another member of the family.

It still doesn't feel quite right but it's an idea.

I could have sworn there was another big appearance of the YT-2000, like in the old comics or something. I can find nothing. Is there another ship that heavily resembles the YT-2000 (central cockpit, mainly)?

I'm pretty sure that it showed up in the Thrawn comic series or the like in background shots but they also showed stuff like the Ebon Hawk so I don't think any of the ships were treated as canon there.

@Hiroshiro

Couldn't agree more. They mined all kinds of ships out of those video games from back in the day, with the Gunboat being the most demanded of that fanbase.

The 2000 would be cool if it was made as an all-in-one box set pack with the 2000 as a cross-faction ship with the Rebel/Scum designs on both sides of each token, so Ace (Rebel) and Ace (Scum) on both sides of the same token.

The interesting thing would be providing an Andrasta paint job on a Firespray, but I remember FFG saying something about the old alt-paint-scheme ships not being made again. That doesn't necessarily exclude a NEW alt-paint-scheme though, does it?

The real kicker would be what they do for an Azzameen family YT-1300; include the pilot cards in the 2000 box or hold it back for the inevitable YT-1300 2.0 edition. But if they do that, and it's another cross-faction ship, I can see the dumpster fire going off over partisan collectors feeling they "have to" shop outside their faction(s) of choice.

I'd buy it though. It's a good relic of a different time in Star Wars fandom, when you could produce an entry in the series that didn't cram in Jedi and lightsabers into everything, whether it made sense or not. It was just pilots and space battles and felt like really good world-building in that universe.

I'm still salty that Maarek Stele didn't come with at least 1 Force Point. He served the Emperor above all others, and even had a fancy tattoo to show for it.

No, it was something much older. I was thinking it had something to do with Jan Ors but can't find anything linking her to such a ship. Oh well.

I think if we see an alt painted Firespray it will likely be Jango's version of the Slave 1, either to add more pilots to the ship for Scum or adding the ship to the CIS faction to give them more recognizable large base ships.

That thing is almost as ugly as the e-wing.

Gotta remind people saying "we would have all 3 x wing game protagonists" that keyan farlander is gone.

We're back down to 1 currently. The best one but just 1.

Oh man I'd love to have The Otana. But I have no idea which faction it should be under..! Scum/Rebel seems to make the most sense but I just don't know.

Since it is from the one X wing game no one played, Yes. ? I mean they wouldn't make random ugly ships from Jump to Lightspeed would they?

Also, is it me, or does that ship's ding dong get in the way of its docking clamp? ?

Agreed, we need a scum YT-2000.

>No one played X-Wing Alliance.

Doesn't talk about =/= didn't play.

You could say the same for the 2400. If you know about the lore of the 2000, it wasn't exactly a freighter and those are very far from mandibles. In truth the YT-2000 was a ship designed with military grade hardware... Which The Empire was less than fond of, so its production run got cancelled in favor for the 2400.

The 2000 is a serious powerhouse of a ship that- if used as a freighter, is used for smaller, more internal-intended cargo.

With the end of Star Wars Rebels and after the release of the movie Solo, there wont have many new ships to add to the rebel faction, the YT-2000 would be an interesting and awesome addition.

Eh, it’s an ugly ship that kills everyone on board as soon as you put any stress on the frame.
