Boba gewd

By TBot, in X-Wing

Boba wrecked in 2 games last night. The ability to reroll attack and defense on all attacks and defenses in a round is crazy. Sometimes had to use the boost to get the range 1s. But sometimes didnt need to and was able to focus. Also had maul to provide that extra force charge. Veteran tail gunner procked in both games. Ion bombs hit in both games. The guy can tank hits and dish hits out. He feels like he has everything. The complete toolbox. In a 2.0 environment he feels very 1.0. Had a great time. Expecting a point increase.

I backed him up with Guri who also did pretty decent. But Boba definently stole the show.

What did you play against?

Yeah, some practice games I've done with him as thus far shown Boba to be a super solid pilot. The changes to the Firespray feels really good, especially the medium base.

I went 4-0 yesterday, making the top 4 cut, then losing to another Boba. Boba is awesome, I love medium bases, and I'm SO glad Firesprays are finally the well-rounded ships they were supposed to be!

This is awesome to hear. Boba is 100% the reason I bought a scum kit, well and he needs wingmen lol

Is gud, but disclaimer

He's not exactly an utter monster, as I've learned just yesterday where he couldn't so much as scratch the paint off of Rexlar's shiney new TIE/D

Literally took two shields off in 20+ minutes of play while we ran around in circles with Rexlar chasing Seri and Boba chasing Rexlar

Gunner Han is also ridiculous, but the stress is a really relevant limitation that you have to plan around. This was especially the case when trying to keep his buddies, Palob and Seri, covered. It also only triggers when he engages, so he couldn't pop it on defense v Rexlar (who had been given first player)

So yeah, Boba's REALLY good and exceptionally enjoyable, but he's got some glaring drawbacks (stress and inability to punch through defensive mods -- contrast with Palob/Terry or ordnance) to keep him balanced

It's definitely worth it.

Okay. Had me confused there. :) The chassis is looking like a decent core to build a squad around.

Yes all the hype is real. That medium base plus the 1 hard turns makes it amazeballs

I took down a Palp Reaper/Rexlar/Whisper list only losing half points on each ship. -shrug- 2 shots took Whisper down to 1 Hull in one round of shooting, and I don't think it took more than 5 shots total to take out Rexlar. Out-gun a TIE/D (a pair of 3-die shots in my case) and/or match it mod-for-mod (I almost always had Focus and re-rolls) and it still goes down eventually.

Get Palob involved. Jam one token and steal the other... then die in like two shots.

I had palob

Opponent was smart enough to notice and also have more ships than just the defender

Point is, Boba isn't the crowning definition of a late game powerhouse. He's really good; he's just not an absolute dominating force.

The trick there is getting close enough to jam without getting Palob gunned down too quickly. Do able, but tricky.

that bastard!

He can get gunned down pretty quickly but if you are attacking a defender with no mods with 3+ ships you would exspect to do massive damage maybe 2 hull left if not less so trading palob could be worth it anyway.

This thread has re-invigorated my excitement in 2.0. I now want to invest in that scum conversion kit. :)

How many points left after Boba + Palob?

Would a pair of fang fighters support for Boba be doable/competitive?

This is true. Endgame, he's solid enough 1-on-1, but that's not his true strength. He really shines against swarms. In fact, one of the lists I beat was a swarm (lost Guri, but Boba still had his Stealth Device intact at the end). The Boba that beat me (I had killed his Palob and Zuckuss and Boba was down to 4 Hull) ended up winning the whole thing, also defeating that same swarm, in the final.

What are people using for a Talent for Boba, sometimes I go go marksmanship because I have no idea sometimes.

Fearless is pretty solid on Boba

My build had Debris Gambit. I used it less and less as the day went on, but he should be at range 1 of an obstacle 100% of the time. Between that, his ability, and Han/Perceptive Copilot, Boba consistently had 2 Foci, an Evade, and usually 2+ re-rolls.

Zero talent

Nothing wrong with fearless, just don't have room

For me, first priority is Marauder Han, then crew, then talent
