My tie fighters are tilted

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

And no, not from crying over fat Han.

2.0 Core set tie fighters came and the models themselves are crooked. =/

Anyone else had problems?

Also has happened recently with Tie SFs and a Silencer.

One of the wings on my TIE is a little crooked but it's only noticeable from the direct front. I have 8 TIEs now, so I don't mind that much. Cared more about the crooked gun on Red-5, which I bent back to be straight.

Pics?

Yes one of my TIEs is tilted front-downwards quite noticeably. The other had a skewed wing that I corrected with some hot water.

Yup. One of my TIEs from core set is visibly tilted to the front.

Unfortunately it is another one of many problems that showed up during X-Wing 2.0 premiere.

Oh I had front tilted ties too From the gozanti or something....

My TIEs are crooked from the Core Set also. Will try the hot water method on mine tomorrow..

Two Core sets, 1xTIE tilted in each. The one on the right in both actually...

I accidentally left my core set in a hot car, so any manufacturing defects are thoroughly unnoticeable at this point.

Had the same problem too. One wing was warped like it had been to near an oven. I emailed, so I’m curious to their response. Also, the peg holder in my 2nd edition MF was crooked as well... Seeing those are the first two things I bought from Second Edition combined with the token issues in the Core Set, I must say, I am not yet impressed...

How did you do that exactly?!

Immerse the wing and strut in just-boiled water for a minute, then it gets sufficiently softened that you can bend it back into place. Hold it in place while it cools down.

Finally got around to opening my core set and have the exact opposite problem. My ties are flawless but my x wing is a hot mess. Guns tilted to where if the wings are closed they cross, unless forced all the way open they don’t stay there ie they are waaay too lose. Not a fan of moving parts at all so far. Glad I have plenty of 1.0 xwings because as far as I am concerned these 2.0 xwings are garbage.

Or dip it in icewater once you have it in the position you want it in - then you don't have to wait for it to cool.

There is a great big twist on my core set TIEs as well. One out of four is "okay." Most of the lines that should be straight on the things are not.

I'd recommend popping it open with an exactoblade and then putting a small dab of super glue onto the peg on the wing connector, as it will make the fit tighter so the wings aren't loose. Just make sure to not end up putting the two pieces together until the super glue is dry. It is a bit of a pain going out of the way to do this but it does solve the issue, if you look in the painting subforum you can likely find alternatives to superglue to use.

Yeah I had both leaning tie fighters and my x wing had a bent gun....as well as has wings that won’t close on one side

My X-Wing was perfectly fine, but both TIEs have bent panels, making em look more like pyramids. Could probably fix it with hot water but put a ticket in anyway to see what happens.

Edit: Replacements on the way. So at least their customer service is good.

@RogueLeader42 has said he has friends with poorly printed and in some cases flat misprinted cardboard and ffg’s response was pretty much here’s a pdf print it yourself. I’ll be curious if they do anything about the crap ships. Losing any respect I had for this company.

One player in my local league pointed out his Escape craft was mounted crooked and we all started checking out our minis. 2 other players and I have Escape Craft that have been mounted tilted. Only 1 person had a Falcon that was not crooked and/or tilted. All of us had issues with our Fang Fighters, the wings would not tilt and had to be twisted with a set of pliers until there was a cracking sound... Most of the Fangs were crooked/tilted as well. One of my Core sets has a T65 with droopy guns and I have a misformed TIE in the other set.

While the new molds are nicer, there are more issues with quality.

EDIT: Not to mention the ID token holders for the medium bases don't hold the token tight enough to prevent them falling out. Mostly the rear token slot.

On the other hand the small base turret tokens are too snug and we were having to mark the ship to lift it and adjust turret facing. But I expect that issue will go away with wear.

Here is the Download Link for Acadamy Pilot. Because the pilot Name was printed on the wrong ship.

What a coincidence. My one core set has the same issue and it's the right one as well. It looks as if the pegs wasnt placed properly when it was being glued. I've got quite a few TIEs so it's not a huge worry, but from the replies here, there might be a quality issue to look into.

My Escape craft is fine but 3 of my new X-wings are all off by a good 30 degrees, anyone know a good way to remove the peg so I can correct it?
