Freighter Caravan (Second Edition format)

By Enigami, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Trying to build for Second Edition Scum. Heard the "Freightful Four" was good, and I already have 3 of 4 Falcons needed, but I was curious about a slightly different build for it.

Freighter Captain (46)
Qira (2)

Freighter Captain (46)
Tobias Becket (2)

Freighter Captain (46)

Skull Squadron Pilot (50)
Predator (2)

Goal is to be below 195 to ensure the Captains can move before Academy TIEs in a Howlrunner + Iden + 5x Academy TIE list so that in a bump scenario the Falcons get their action and the TIEs do not. Unlike the Freightful Four, this list drops one of the YTs for a Fang Fighter mini-ace. Could maybe go with some more or other upgrades, but I like the idea of repositioning obstacles to my advantage and making SSP hit harder.

Older build had Teroch instead of SSP, but after some thinking this feels better. Thoughts?

Edit: Misread Composure, thought it enabled Focus after bump. Had to fix my list when I realized that (would've been awesome if it did though) .
Edit 2: Swapped Fearless with Predator, and used the spare points to put Qira on a YT to add engagement options

I was building similar but spending light on the ace or even just upgrading the Freighters with Cargo Chutes and crew so that I could afford the Escape Shuttle Bomb.

Personally, I'm not sold on Fearless, and think it's a bit of a trap. While the Fang fighters have a bit of a defensive perk at range 1, I think it's still a bad plan to aim to go nose-to-nose. Consider: Predator is likely to be active whenever Fearless would be, and also can work if you dodge some arcs. While a reroll isn't as good as a plain turn, it also is a bit cheaper.

Here's another thought: what if, instead of a Fang ace, you added a Moldy Crow. Torkil Mux can tank an opponent's initiative for engagement, and perhaps allowing a PS kill. There'd be a fair amount of crew wiggle room left over with that, and it'd almost surely be cool to get 0-0-0 for one of the falcons.

Good point on Predator, I'll swap that out. That leaves me with 2 pts under my target of 194 or lower, so I can add Qira on one of the YTs too for more engagement options.

Can't run Moldy Crow or 0-0-0 though. This is for the "Second Edition" format, which is Wave 1 only right now. Otherwise I'd change some things, like atleast one of them would get a Feedback Array and have the threat of a YT rushing in and frying the front row of a swarm, or just bumping an ace to death if it can.
