Did I overlook it? Where in the rulebook does it say you lose the action if it fails?

Why is this not included in the core set? At the very least you would think they would mention failed actions in the rulebook.

You know, I have no idea why the ref isn't in the core set

I'd have to imagine it's due to a strict release deadline + development time, which led to stuff like Wave 14 misprints

The core rule book doesn't say you can take a different action if one fails. This is easily overlooked because it's not spelled out. I missed it the first time.

The rules reference states more explicitly that you cannot take a different action.
