2018 VASSAL Autumn Tourney - Completed!

No lie, this game was decided entirely by the Vassal dice engine because OMFG this was stupid by the end. I had somewhere around a 90-95% hit rate with all dice including anti-squadron dice. @Xanderf could barely manage 50-50 despite Sloane boosting his dice outcomes for squads.

Trying to remember my vassal logs, so here's the one from this game:

TBH, I think Sloane only actually had any effect once, and not to any real gain. Didn't pop a single time when trying to lock down that accuracy on your GR75 - had to burn it off the old-fashioned way.

Good game, though - and thanks for the reminder on the wrong number of dice rolled off of Maarek, I was just getting drained by those relentless hits and going a bit loopy....

(And that Raddus + Profundity drop thing...first time I've actually seen it in person. That's...that's a lot of firepower to appear out of thin air, spawned by a ship effectively out of my firing range! Never really had a problem with Raddus on his own, given his 'can't activate first' penalty as a nice balance, but...Profundity allowing a ship coming off that drop to activate first besides...that just seems so effective for its price)

Are the final Euro games scheduled?

Or are we waiting for no reason?

I think word was there are 2 more games that have to be played?

Looks like 2 more in Europe, and 1 more in each of US-East ( @duck_bird vs @Undeadguy ) and US-West ( @itzSteve vs @Captain ICT )

Yes. There are two. Have they been scheduled?

I am reaching out to @Captain ICT again today. I reached out back on the 26th, but its been crickets since...

Zamelekite and Brobafett are clearly in first and second, (26 and 23) so can play anytime without competition. There is a chance if either emfrank72 or RealVeers get a 10 and end up on 20 points that they could end up playing Darth Veggie (22) instead of one of the four players on 20 (RapidReload, Green Knight, Aresius, dupy).

If emfrank72 or RealVeers get a 9, or Doppelganger gets a 10, they can interfere in the upper echelons (10 players are on 19 points or better). But those of us on 19 (LTD, Bantha, Dark Raver) need a remarkable outcome to get to the cut at this point - a solid 10/1 and a higher MOV over a Zamalekite 3 Brobafett 6 - and no one else above us getting a 10 (or an 8 for Darth Veggie).

So yes, we need to wait for those two games to be played, but even then it will take remarkable turn of events for any of us to reach the highest heights.

Duckbird is on holiday

Hey all, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I'll take care of the rulings on matches.

The Round three deadline is November 7 and we're not there yet. Please hold all horses.

7th will do

me and @RealVeers will play on the 7th

@Undeadguy and I will play tonight. Sorry for the delay, folks!

Indeed. With duck's vacation and me getting ready for an engagement proposal, we haven't had a lot of time.

I expect a full turn out to watch this climatic end to round 3 though. There is no excuse for missing this because I know you guys don't have any other games going on.

@itzSteve vs. @Captain ICT is scheduled for tomorrow morning 9am California time!

Good luck guys!

@duck_bird vs @Undeadguy ends with a score of 263-146 for me.

Jerry (UDG) seizes the initiative in this classic match of 2 400-point fleets having at it. We play my Planetary Ion Cannon.

All 3 Ion tokens go in the center, and I deploy squads first so I can force him to chase me through the tokens. Ion Cannon and squadrons start picking on Jerry's ISD, while the raiders fly ahead and try to cut off my fleet.

The ISD goes down to many tiny plinks of damage, and both raiders are eventually destroyed. However, Demo finally catches up and finishes off Cracken's flagship! Angry rebel squadrons swarm around demo and try to finish it off, but fail to do so! Demo lives with 1 hp at the end of turn 6.

Final score was 263-146 for duck. I lost Cracken's AF-2A, and a transport. UDG lost Jerry's ISD, and both raiders.

NA East Round 3 in the books!

Today is the deadline, and I'll have NA East R4 match-ups later.

NA West and Europe match-ups will be posted as soon as possible.

NA West was first to complete round 1. Europe first for round 2. Now NA East for round 3. 1 point apiece! :D

Ongoing now.

@Doppelganger vs RealVeers ended as the tail of Europe.

Realveers defeats Doppelganger with 215 to 123 (92 MoV, 7-4 my way). We played his Precision Strike. His Bomber wing did a good job on my ships, but two Slicers could stall long enough for my ships to ram the Transports to death, and the MC30 sniped the Dodonna Nebulon.

Doppel was a nice opponent and I wish him the best for the last round!

@Geek19 Fart:

Doppelganger killed Shara and Tycho (100% of my Squads) and scored 6 Tokens

I killed two GR90s, the Nebulon B flagship and Ten Numb, Dagger and Corran Horn. I managed to get 1 Token.

Logsfiles (two due to crash)

Edited by RealVeers

I have to return the compliment, this was another nice and relaxed game.

And if I finally be able to remember that my VCX can't use precision strike then I will have accomplished my goals for the tournament.

@itzSteve vs. @Captain ICT is complete!

Final score is 400-20, MOV 380 to itzSteve.

The Captain had the bid and chose my Contested Outpost. I placed my obstacles as best as possible to hinder his dual Liberties from having too many paths into the station, but with Madine it was like they weren't even there. The key round of the game happened in turn 3 where his HIE Liberty failed to get a significant shot into my MC75. I was able to keep it alive at that point. I concentrated my MC75 and Admo to bring down one of the Libs and tried to get shots into the other Lib before it could run away from me. Thanks to Leia on a Comms net flotilla I was able to change the top command on the MC75 to a squadron command plus a bonus token and sent out 3 A-wings to try and finish the Lib off. I needed 2 hits to a shieldless ship to finish it off. The first one hit, the second missed, but the third one was able to get the killing blow in. I was worried going into the match with two ET Liberties focusing down on my MC75, but I think with a early slicer of one of the Libs, the subpar shot by the other Lib, I was able to get enough damage through with Sato ACMs to make the difference. I got 4 station tokens to the Captains 1.

Casualties:

itzSteve - Nothing...

Captain ICT - Both Liberties fell

The Captain was a great guy and I had fun...thx again!
