LTD vs @RapidReload

LTD: killed the Pelta - Most Wanted - 131 points

RapidReload: Killed 4 CR90s with TRCs and ETs, one with Jaina's Light - 238 points

7 / 4 to RapidReload, with 107 point MOV

Good game, some good rolls that made a difference, and a lot of cagey and careful flying.

10/10 would play again.

LTD vs RapidReload ended 7:4 in my favor (238:131).

Silly game of chicken with an engagement in turn 5. Well flown though - excellent maneuvers were seen by all.

Seriously, it was a very nice opponent and fun game - thanks LTD.

LTD made a replay and will post it later for posterity - or already did :-).

Tooka V @Jotto Otts1 Ended in a 9-2 for me, MOV 278 (400-122)

I picked first player and chose his hyperspace assault, which he used well to fork me with his ISD and demo on turn two. At the end of the game, my two cr90s were limping after engaging in some plinking, and cracken and adar were dead, but Yavaris focused on her job, taking out the ISD and putting a few crippling blows onto demo. For me there were a lot of tense moments of choosing who to sacrifice and trying to squeak out of arcs. Jotto played a really good game.

Dr Alex vs @Zamalekite finally finished last night.

i won the dice off and chose first. We played Zamalekite’s solar Corona, which he played annoyingly perfectly.

Asteroids went down accross the front of my deployment zone, which given he has Dodonna pushed me to deploy slightly to my left to avoid them, he went everything on his left to avoid flying into me.

We then played a couple of turns of dancing around the obstacles with Coran Horn using Adar to dart in and out to snipe my escorts for not much damage.

Come turn there I had Pryce but still no real engagement. I thought I had the chance to fling my tar pit alpha strike at his bombers to kill Coran and hopefully Dagger and then tie a lot of the rest into a war of attrition leaving my bombers free reign to smash things. My 5 squad alpha strike completely whiffed, didn’t even kill Coran. I at least thought ‘my counter shots will do some damage’.

Zamalekite gritted his teeth and began using his squads to unpick the big ball of barbed wire I’d just thrown at him. Which he did carefully, while pretty much every single counter shot I had missed. Every bloody time. He therefore was able to pick Fel’s flying circus apart, while I had to commit my remaining TIE Advanced to scragg Coran Horn.

that then left my bombers easy pickings so Tycho flew at them to tie up Rhymer and a bomber while Zamalekite’s ships flew carefully around my big scary ISD. My Pryce last first came and went with little to show for it because everything was hiding from me. My last real throw of the dice was to then try and use my ISD to block the pelta and murder it next turn. Unfortunately with a nav dial the pelta just managed to get out of my front and into my side. At that point I lost all chance of winning and it became a question of how badly I’d lose.

The answer to that was pretty badly. All my squads got picked apart which was understandable given the fighter cover was dead (and good riddance to them, appalling shots that they were). Then in the last turn managed to reel in the quasar and blow it up with bombers.

Yes my dice were rubbish at the key point, but Zamalekite’s played his side basically perfectly, which was a glory to watch, just a shame it was against me.

final score:

Zamalekite 205

Dr Alex 22

MoV 183 so an 8-3 to Zamalekite.

for FART:

I lost all squads and quasar.

Zamalekite lost Coran Horn

back to the mid table for me...

Thanks for a great game @Dr alex - glad we managed to finish it at last! Sorry I was a bit slow in the first two turns - trying to figure out where that ISD might end up and how not to get obliterated!

Of the 3 possible match-ups I could have faced I really didn't fancy Alex's fleet with 4 TIE Advanceds + Soontir and Dengar and no Intel of my own I was seriously worried about getting horribly tar-pitted. The 4 bombers could also easily tear one of my carriers to bits. And then there was Devastator! A ship that gets more dangerous the more you shoot at it, yikes. And Tagge was interesting as he could afford to just throw defense tokens away in the hope of later getting them back if needed.

My plan was to try and split my Pelta and Yavaris up in the hope that Devastator would only take down one of them. I deliberately bumped the Pelta into a GR75 in turn 2 to slow him down and I'm glad I did as it kept him out of medium range on turn 4 after the Pryce move. I was then able to use Leia for an emergency Nav command and dodge out of the way for minimal damage and Devastator then sailed past me and out of the game.

As Alex mentioned, his Alpha strike in turn 3 fizzled with some really bad rolls. I should really have lost at least 2 more squads in the game. My counter attack aided by flak from Yavaris and Toryn in range took out his entire fighter wing in two turns. I took advantage of Pryce's delay in turn 3 to use Adar on Tycho to hop across the board and pin his bombers in place meaning he only got one bombing run on me in the whole game.

The highlight of the game for me, weirdly perhaps, was playing token ping-pong with Tantive IV. At the start of turn 4 I needed a squad token on my Pelta for Adar but both Tantive IV and my comms net GR75 were out of range. So I first activated Tantive IV to send the token to the GR75 and then flew past it into range of the Pelta. The GR75 then activated, used his own dial and then passed the token back to Tantive IV using the title ability to 'bounce' the token on to the Pelta! I knew this could work in theory but never managed to pull it off in a game :)

My brain hurts a bit now - so much to think about. 2-ship lists with a big mean ISD, Flight Controllers and a mix of bombers + fighters + Dengar is the stuff of nightmares for me so I'm very relieved to have passed my first test!

Thanks again Alex for a great game - hope we get to play each other IRL at some point.

Holy crap - just looking at potential next round opponents if @NairoD vs @Green Knight ends up 9/2 or 10/1 to Nairo then I might have to face this:

Quote

NairoD

[ flagship ] Victory I-Class Star Destroyer (73 points) - Admiral Motti ( 24 points) - Warlord ( 8 points) - Agent Kallus ( 3 points) - Ruthless Strategists ( 4 points) - Quad Laser Turrets ( 5 points) - H9 Turbolasers ( 8 points) - Ordnance Pods ( 3 points) = 128 total ship cost

Is there a more perfect anti-squad ship loadout possible? I can't think of one. Eeeeevil.

More nightmares!

p.s. loving the amazing variety of lists in this tournament so far! :)

are Vassal tournies normally this diverse?

Yes, they are normally very diverse. It's part of the appeal.

@svelok vs @mhd ends 400-211, for an 8-3 to me.

@geek19 in a back-and-forth bloodbath, I got the tabling, and lost both generic MC30s and both flotillas, for just Jaina's Light and (a very much on fire) Admonition left alive.

thank you, you were one of those that permitted to get 15+ points in FART last turn!

continue the good work!

Hey my last few days in town before the 21st are going to be very hectic!

If enough na east games finish on time, let me know who my next round opponent will be!

Kinky

Pod should be getting a good spanking from Rikki around 1300 gmt tomorrow.

jp82729 vs @Undeadguy just ended in my favor. Result was 400-115 (MoV 285, 9-2).

I won the roll-off and selected first player. Turn three was the deciding turn, and could have easily swung the other way if my ISD hadn't gotten as good a roll as it did. Some hot bomber dice didn't hurt either. All of Undead's stuff was destroyed, and I lost the Quasar, Gozanti and a TIE bomber. Overall a good game with a good opponent.

CommanderDave vs @Thrindal finished late last night in my favor. It ended up being 10-1 (505-0 points wise), a bad matchup for Thrindal.

He had the bid and chose first. He out activated me and chose my Fighter Ambush, which gave him deployment advantage with ships, but my whole Rogue squad ball was placed right in front of his ISD. For the FART, Thrindal had a Gozanti and limping Rhymer remaining at the end of the game and I didn’t lose anything (Though Morna, Demo, and my Gozanti all came very close). Really good game, solid opponent.

Here is the write-up with pictures.

Sorry for the lack of competition, I'd also like to apologize to anyone that had me in the Fart, how I played smelled like a Fart but was a little more brown in color.

Rikki vs Pod ends 535-400 with both fleets totalled and 9 Fighter ambush tokens the difference.

A really enjoyable game against Rikki, We played his Fighter ambush.

Demo was the first casualty in this one falling to the ambushing rouges and bombers.

As the ships engaged, Yavaris fell to a combo of an Insidious double arc on the rear followed up by the side arc of the Isd, however in the activation between Yav devastated my isd with double taps and shooting lining up ahead of the isd ready to be flown into next turn. I rammed the toryn Bcc boat to death with my gozantis to reduce the damage output but rickis squad dice were consitant throughout this one.

The isd fell but not before popping the pelta, leaving a tense standoff with insidious and 2 gozantis vs the Dodonna naked HH and angry swarm of squads.

A big navigational eff-up from me saw me fail to hit the double arc on his flagship or a safe spot within Brunson range of an obstacle, which allowed his squads to unleash yet more pain and gain more tokens.

I activate a gozanti first ramming his remaining gr to death to prevent the double Bwing tap, this allows Rikki to get a CF side arc off into my nose scoring a coolant discharge with the DodoCrit.

Luckily after rolling 3 hits and a blank the O/e rr scored 6 with Acm to table Rikki, But Hera and her activated rogues Scored the damage to finish the stricken glad and score the win.

If it's a double tabling, it's a 6-5 0 MOV win to 2nd player.

tokens aren't scored?

Nope. Mutual Destruction.

"If two players have exactly the same score or both players’ fleets are destroyed in the same game round, the second player is the winner, but his or her Margin of Victory is 0."

Is this the second mutual tabling in this tournament? I've had exact ties before but never seen a double tabling, much less two in one event.
