Forced to remove a token.

By Khsofsso, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi everyone

probably not the best Title for topic.

But does 2.0 work the same as the first game in that you can choose to remove/spend 0 tokens.

Thinking in reference to Torani Kuldo

Zero might be a valid number (I don't know off the top of my head... I know Focus tokens can no longer be spent to modify 0 focus results), but Torani Kulda has had a wording change which means it's irrelevant. A ship suffers 1 damage unless it removes 1 token--specifically, 1 token. As such, it doesn't matter for Torani.

With a lot of 2e stuff, before trying to figure out if the underlying rules have changed, it's worth it to see if the text of cards has changed. Here, it has.

I'm only aware of one card where you can reference 0 of a thing which is crew 4lom where you could name a token type they don't have just to get ioned for whatever reason. Everything else so far specifies a minimum and often maximum of 1.

Cheers guys.

Glad that wording and rules have been improved.

Always hated the 0 spend. Just seemed very gamey

Which makes me wonder... when using Keyan Farlander Ten Nunb , can you remove a stress to change "all zero" of your focus results, or do you need to have an eyeball to convert, in order to "spend 1 stress token"?

From what I have read so far, you actually need an eyeball now, so it's more difficult to achieve that now, in comparison to 1.0

The 2.0 Rules Reference says under "Focus" on page 11

A ship cannot spend a focus token to change <eyeball> results to <evade> or <hit> results if it does not have any <eyeball> results.

I would assume the same goes for Ten Numb and his stress token then.

for some reason i cant remember where it was, i remember seeing a rule that denied Ten Numb from doing it on the fly like that i'll have to comb through it when i have more time later.

But all normal tokens are denied spending just to spend it.

Lock: One or more
Focus: Explicitly states cannot if you have no focus results
Evade: Tokens spend = change that many dice, there is no may. Granted you could weasel out of this by spending more evades than you have dice but...why?
