Anybody able to explain why FFG need my phone status and identity to run their squad builder app?
Phone Status and Identity
Trying to work through the privacy issues in relation to what data FFG is collecting here... and curiously the privacy statement doesn't link to something at FFG's site, but the Disney Privacy page .
Still trying to figure out what benefit this data is for them (Not sure now if "them" is Disney or FFG). Anyone?
Phone status and identity is needed by apps to pause what you are doing when your phone rings and you need to answer it. It also allows an app to gather data about your phone (brand, android version, service). This info can be used by modules to push properly sized ads or just for generic data collection so app developers can determine what models and screen sizes are most common and they should optimize for. That's the gist of it, but I'm sure we could come up with more nefarious reasons for that permission if we try.

Ok. So...
This app needs my phone status so that it can pause if something else happens? Off the top of my head there are about half a dozen apps that DON'T have that permission but allow lots of other things override them.
I feels you're closer with the data gathering feature - but I'm paranoid about big companies harvesting anything about my life. This app somewhat needlessly ties things like my phone IMEI number to my asmodee login address, and my Google account.
Given the state of the release version, I am inclined to suspect this might be a needless oversight, but it's fair to ask, innit?
Wow. Dealbreaker number two here. I keep my phone fairly locked down and apps do not get ANY permissions unless I decide it needs it. A squad making app has no need for ANY permissions outside of updating itself when I allow.
