No clue what you mean by this.

I see Z95 AF4 Headhunters in the official FFG app. @24 points each...

[edit] I think I get it. I wa sunder the assumption you meant the 2.0 edition as a whole. But apparently you seem to want to handicap yourselves by opting for the extremely limited listbuilding as offered by '2nd ed.". Why would you? Go with 'Extended" and play the game as it is supposed to be in its full glory!

It is very likely that there will be 2nd ed. only events, because it isn't sustainable to allow things that can't be bought, both because new players will be at a disadvantage and FFG won't be making money of it. I don't expect 2nd. ed. only to become the dominant format right now, but in one or two waves when it allows for enough variety I expect that step to be made, and for the games health it should be!

I’d love to see some limited tournaments, would be really cool.

Also essential to attracting new players and sustaining the game long term.

Its not just about new players, it's about new factions .

It's essential to the commercial future of X-Wing that they sell the new factions and there's no way I can see FFG organised play emphasising formats that put Droid/Jedi at a massive disadvantage vs 5 years of releases that FFG get no money from incentivising players to buy.

2019 is going to be the year of Second Edition being rammed down your throat by FFG OP. Better get ready.

Although i do think this likely will be the trigger for a 3rd party to get serious about hosting X-Wing events in Extended format. If 500 people are prepared to travel to play Extended but FFG are refusing to create that event, then somebody else will create it.

This is only true if tournament players are the driving sales force for minis. They might be. Regardless, I could see them sticking with mostly Extended until all factions have enough ships to be interesting. Let conversion kits carry competitive games while re-release incubates.

That, too. And the latter part could be a great opportunity, the X-Wing community really suffers so much from the old FFG promo tunnelvision. An independant tournament scene would finally elevate X-Wing into proper staple wargame territory and future-proof it beyond FFGs license. More likely people will just complain and then go farm FFG-promos anyways, but one can dream.

I firmly believe tournaments help sales. (no clue by how much of course)
I run local X-wing tournaments (once every three months) and every time the tournament date ' gets close' I see more and more X-wing played at our club.
This enthuses people more than anything else...

Just seeing how the game is played, how fast and furious it is. A decent number of people playing it. It all adds up.

That's how a player thinks. It's not how the marketing department of a games company thinks (spoiler alert: OP is a subset of Marketing).

Get a big drink ready because the foot-long sausage of Second Edition is coming. Open wide!

Yeah I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing either, the Starcity Games series is a big deal for Magic.

Stuff like the Mynock Open proves there's a market for this.

That's fine. I'm pretty okay with either format.

Meet Iden Versio, eater of proton damage. New TIE swarm is incredible in the opening engagement.

Just need 3 protons and your fine. R3 Astro's just in case you kill Howl with the first proton.

On average, it takes 2 proton torps to drop a TIE fighter. With Iden eating one, your three protorps will only kill 1 TIE (howlrunner). In return, you're losing an X-Wing or Y-Wing and the TIE swarm is coming out ahead
