2.0 R2-D2

By jocke01, in X-Wing

Hi

I don't really get the new R2. I remember it was annoying in 1.0, but it wasn't really that powerful before corran since all the ships that could carry him hade 1-2 agility and no evade.

Now he is the same point cost, has a 3 times limitation while also removing your attack.

I think a more reasonable change would be same cost, 3 uses and instead of skipping your attack you get a stress token.

I haven't tried him in practice, but I just don't see the value of giving up your attack to gain one shield. Unless you know you won't get an attack that round. However will you do that 3 times in a match?

What do you think?

In theory he got great synergy with Corran or any other ship that gets disarm token from time to time, but the problem is Corran is overpriced and ships that could get disarm token regularly (Y-Wing) melts under fire.

I think R2-D2 will come back as soon as E-Wing price will be toned down.

I think it is a good deal, 3 regen for 3 missed attack. It need good pilot skills to not end in a bad place. With stress only, force user and some other could still access to full mod attack and regen in one turn. I think it will need practice to use R2 safely.

Seems like the new R2-D2 is designed for strafing run style attacks or kiting the edges of the scrum rather than straight-up dogfighting.

Yeah that's what I figure as well, however I thought that kind of running away and regenerate was what peolple found annoying to play against.

I get the whole fly away and repair, but for all tournament usually you want to destroy as many things you can as fast as you can, not spend valuable attacks gaining one shield.

I Guess we will see, I just don't get why I would put R2 on Luke atm. Wich in my opinion should be a no brainer.
