Rebels can't do what they're supposed to do

By Roller of blanks, in X-Wing

Horton salm. Arvel. Norra. Blout.

These are just a few of the rebel ships that benefit from being at range one or having friends at range one. Do you see a trend here? Rebels want to be in your face, and being aggressive, but do you think norra is better at range one than fenn? Can norra stare down a tie swarm? Is guri going to be afraid to get close to a rebel squad? Because she sure would be against fenn.

What I'm trying to say is that rebel range one abilities just aren't as good as the other Factions, and close up engagements are what rebels want to do.

What do you think?

Norra has to have an enemy at r 0-1 but her attacker DOES NOT have to be at r 0-1

If you're bumping a tie and eating the rest at range 3, you get an evade per roll

Horton and Blount don't have to be at range 1 for their abilities. They have blockers (like arvel) for that

Arvel works at range 0, not 1

Range 1 doesn't just mean going head to head jousting- maneuvering is important to the game as well. Imps and Scum are better, in general, at jousting with their base ships (TIE/Headhunter and Syck swarms, Defenders/Kihraxz jousters), but the Rebels have a lot more staying power with their shields and repair/regen astromechs. Don't joust swarms, use the fact that to be effective swarms have to stay concentrated and maneuver to break them up- use obstacles and bait ships to get the swarm to disperse.
