Are You Good At X-Wing?
The more nuanced answer is that i’m decent.

That’s a polite way of saying no, because the question is if you pass the ‘good’ hurdle. But all love man, because for me the answer is straight no ?
Nope, not in the slightest.
I love HWKs, Scyks, and Y-wings too much.
Edit: The more I think about it... Maybe? I've been told a lot that I'm a good player by others, but that I hobble myself by trying to make certain ships/lists work. Its the same way when I play Magic (Or any other game where I can build a deck/squad), I try to rack my brain for things that are unorthodox and outside the norm and then try to find a way to make them work. I win about 80% of my casual matches, then about 70% of my tournament games, and my local playgroup has more than a few players that regularly do well at Regionals/Nationals/Worlds. I don't know haha!
Edited by InneseDepends on your definition. I win 95% of my games vs my friends (3 that play), so I could be considered good in that sense. At the same time, my tournament record is only so-so, placing in the top four only twice. So in that case, you could definitely say no, as I've never won a tourney. Its a hard question to answer, and one that doesn't really work with two black/white choices.

I took it a little more in a positive/negative light. Due to previous performances, I view myself as being on the "good" side of the divide, though not very high. Thus my clarification of "decent".

I’m sure it’s open to interpretation, unless OP clarifies. I think about all my games after playing them, and can see where I went wrong to (hopefully) avoid that mistake next time. However, I still made the mistakes, and they (usually) cost me, so I’m definitely not “good.”

A little yea. I also just ramble too much for my own good... Maybe its the fumes from all the fresh cardboard.
Just as a general thought, you should be able to answer this question without reference to your opponents. Your skill level is intrinsic, whereas your game results are an imperfect reflection of that.

Well, it's not like I don't make mistakes. Even people I know who I definitely consider good players still make mistakes from time to time. Don't be too hard on yourself.
I’m good, my dice on the other hand are not.

I've won a store championship. I've come in dead last at a store championship. Same season. I don't know which answer fits.
I’m in the minority saying “no”
Nah, I'm terrible. I play lists that are connected, themed, and that are fluffy. Therefore the META kills me. Same too in 40k,
Still love the game.
Depends who you ask.
I said no - I win about 2/3 of my games but never the big ones I could have gone 5-1 at two regionals this season but I flew off the board once on the second turn
I won a game once, I think. Does that count?
I think with the return of game balance....I am a Yes. I understand the opposing player and am good at figuring out what they are going to pick for a move. So, that makes it pretty good that I can pick a good move for my ships. I'm not perfect, but I'm pretty reasonable at it. I've won store champs. I've always come in the top 25% for tournaments that I've attended. I feel like I have a good handle on the game. Oh, I make some really **** decisions and have had really bad games, but overall, I think I'm on the positive side.

I'm always impressed when people can do this, because it means they can remember, not only their own ships' movements, but the movements of the ships they're flying against, too. I'm more likely to anticipate my opponent will do a K-Turn, and maneuver all my ships certain that they'll be in a good position after the opponent's K-Turn, only to discover that the Gozanti doesn't even have a K-Turn on its dial...
I voted Yes. Because I always have fun. I may not always win, but on tournament days, I walk into my FLGS yelling "SPAAAAAACEFIIIIIIIGHT!".

For me, it's a matter of just looking at it how I would do it. I've played a decent number of mini games and X-wing (at least at the beginning of 1st Ed) was about being able to out fly your opponent. I think I am good at that. It's part of the reason why I ditched other games and got into X-wing.
Yes
Will just leave it at that
I voted for no because I am not good at list building and never won anything big. I just don't care. I fly ships I like and the pilots I like in the films/novels/other media. But I am good in tactics and I am very good in flying my ships.
No, definitely not... ? I usually win against my friends who don't play that often, but my mate who I play most games with, I think he's up 8 out of 10 or something. He tends to always fly the same squad, but I fly a new squad almost every game because I like the diversity and just love the models... So yes, there is probably that...
