Locally we are hearing that they were also not shipped enough damage decks but that FFG will be filling all damage deck orders, we just don't know the timelines.

Making a few assumptions here.

1. Stores were told that they would receive a damage deck with their preorders.

2. Stores were told to lock in their preorders by (fill in date).

3. Damage decks were sent to distributors to cover preorders.

4. Bunch of stores increased their preorders.

5. Distributors don't GAF about which stores were ahead of the game and got their preorders in on time. They allocate damage decks as they seem fit, which means they go to stores that sell high volume or owners they have a good relationship with.

I did not receive the Damage deck either, and extremely disappointed about it.
(Side Note: is there a thread we should start for a single location for everyone to post if if they did or did not receive the damage deck?)

Here's my complaint:

  1. I bought mine through a game store to support local stores.
  2. FFG even promotes buying items through local game stores when you go through their online check out.
  3. On there 2.0 announcement page they say you can get the pre-order damage deck though local game stores.
  4. Local game store said they should receive the pre-order damage deck, placed pre-order.
  5. Today I did not receive my 2.0 pre-order damage deck.
  6. FFG needs to send all pre-orders the damage deck, our it was false advertising and/or misleading information.
  7. I’m very disappointed, and would have pre-order a different way if FFG was up front and let the consumers know how to exactly get the pre-order damage deck.

yeah.... my FLGS got the rest of his boxes. no promo damage decks.

Same here. No promo damage deck when i picked up my preorder. They said they will call me when they get it in.

Can’t say I’m surprised if there really is a shortage of damage decks.

However, stores had to order the decks and pay $2 each for them, so FFG has a financial obligation to provide those decks. If they are short now that means that they will be sending more later or providing refunds to all the stores who were shorted. Hopefully it’s the former because the latter is pretty lame.

They certainly don't have a legal obligation, they can just refund the payments.

They know you're all gonna still shovel your money at them in spite of this. FFG will face no consequences for this.

That's likely not true (the no consequence part). A single thing will likely not put customers off a product they like, but multiple small things will gather over time. Just look at GW a few years back (treat your customers badly for long enough and you will lose enough sales so it starts to matter)

From this point of view, FFG has done quite a few small mistakes in a pretty short time span (wave 1 cards missing from the conversion kits, some cards not available for all factions at release, the quality of the app, the pre-order damage decks).

unfortunately, if anyone suffers consequences, it will be the FLGS. Because anyone who ordered from FFG got there promo decks. next time folks will order online because they didn't get them the last time.

You understand that there is a difference between digitally distributed video games and physical board game components when it comes to preordering, right? Because with the latter, stock can and will run out as we have already seen. Completely reasonable to preorder something like X-Wing 2.0.

Alliance hasn't completely killed Heroclix yet, so I don't think they will kill off X-wing.

Though expect this to become a pattern.

The above was from my LGS, posted to our local FB page. I originally copied to our S&V slack chat and @Kelvan posted to the entire interwebs, which is fine. This local store (which actually has 3 locations) runs a tight ship and their Norton store is the defacto capital of competitive X-wing in Massachusetts. They are the highest 'tier' store on FFG's rankings, so always get preferential product treatment. So, if Battlegrounds doesn't have damage decks, then a lot of other stores don't either.

The store is handling it as well as they can, but they have been dealt the short end of the stick. Chase also showed his entire email chain dealing with FFG/ANA and the distributor, although I didn't repost the email chain, just his summary. The TL;DR is that up until very recently the store expected to get one kit per Core set they pre-ordered, until suddenly they were informed this was not the case after he inquired a few days ago just before launch. In Battleground's case, they are giving out the promo decks in the order of pre-orders. I unfortunately didn't make the cutoff, so I am one that is affected. I still plan on picking up a core set, I'll just only have one tournament legal 2.0 deck.

I have heard rumors that FFG will be printing / shipping additional damage decks but I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere yet. That would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

Interesting. The distributor told our FLGS that the decks had been held up in customs and that they would sent them to the store as soon as they got them.
