Disappointed In New TIE Fighters

My core TIEs have the worst paint job I've seen so far. The black on the panels is about 3mm short of one edge.

Not too impressed with the flappy X-wing either. The mechanism is loose enough that the fuselage can go out of square with the wings. Easy to readjust, but meh.

Also, in a game when accidental bumping is a real issue, are people actually going to be manipulating the wings during play?

I will be, but that's mostly because I'm rarely in a position where if I want to open/close the wings, I'm not near another ship. As for the wing/fuselage thing, it's the way they designed it, unfortunately. It's a super simple setup that kinda just floats inside the model. Due to the size, I doubt there were too many other ways to do it.

I'm convinced that this is why the saw's x-wing had that gummy glue in them. An attempt to give it some resistance and hold them in place a little better. but it just kept the wings from really working. I followed the fix tutorial from back to dials and my partisan x-wing works great. Saw one from a gen con pre release core set a couple weeks ago and it was super floppy loose. but still cool. I think its 80% coolness and 20% game usage.

My expansion X-wing has a misaligned paint print - so the painting of the left side red stripe and cockpit is all off.

How are you opening the wings, by lifting the wing tips or squeezing the engines?

From the videos I've seen on youtube, it's really easy to push the wings at a wonky ankle while closed if you try and do it by moving the wings themselves, but if you pinch the engines from the sides to open them, and pinch from top and bottom to close them it works really well and stays symmetrical.

Not sure if that's the issue you're having, yours might just be super loose. But if you haven't tried that method, give it a go.

I mean, I probably wouldn't bother in a tournament, but where time and a mm or two of bumping aren't so important, it's a really good visual indicator of the s-foils card. I'll definitely be using it in casual games.

Replying to the OP of this thread, I just send Asmodee a request about my TIE Fighter. When receiving the box, without opening I already saw the wing was warped. Like, really warped, as if an ironing device was held close to it. Taking it out, I also noticed the plastic seemed to be more flimsy... Curious as to what they will do with my request.

I agree so much... Hopefully, there will be no moving parts on T-70 X-Wing.

I guarantee someone will want to trade you. Might even add some money into the bargain. If I had a 1.0 T-70 I definitely would, but I'm just imps and Rebels. But I would definitely trade you as many as 3 non-folding T-65 X-Wings for an equal number of folding ones.

The core TIEs I got at gencon are 100% identical in feel and construction to the 10 I already had from 1st edition. The wash is lighter on them than the gozanti TIEs but the color seems to be the same. I don't personally care for the blue paint compared to the original gray TIEs anyway though.

I made the mistake of buying two original core sets and an X-Wing pack when I got into the game in spring of 2017...

It was a good deal...
