Is anybody else disappointed in the quality of the new TIE Fighters?
They seem to be flimsy and cheap to me. I’m afraid that I will sneeze and blow them apart.... that might be a little melodramatic, but you get the point.

Edited by MyotismonI think thats the point, based on their cost. Run them with the one that can safe one of them once per game, or woth sloane to stress people. In swarms they are good
Edited by RafaelNNThe quality in all the core sets we received is very poor. Bad paint apps, literally finger prints on tie panels, warped wings, wings a odd angles, the x wings were decent overall except for a few with guns not all pointed the same direction. Very disappointing. Surprisingly the expansions didn’t suffer from the same issues.
Oh you meant physically. I didnt get that. Must have been bad luck, though. Mine were as good as the 1.0 ones. Actually better, two of my 1.0 tie fighters had unaligned panels, the 2.0 ones are both aligned correctly. My x-wing had loose wings, though. They kept snapping shut. I glued them open anyway, I dont like the moving parts in minis
I did not notice any obvious defect in my core set. The X-Wing on the contrary is far better than the one that came with Saws Renegades, but that's something everyone already pointed out.
Even if mine turn out poorly, I'm planning on cutting up at least one to make a second Mining Guild TIE. I already have a ton of TIEs, so I don't need the ships in the core. In fact, the other TIE and X-wing may become a couple of Uglies (an X-TIE and Deathseed).
Yeah, they don't even come with shields.
Sorry. There seems to be some confusion about this topic.
I am referring to the quality of the plastic used in making of the miniatures and not the nature of their existence in the meta.
My minis were thin and flimsy. One of my T-65’s also has a peg that is slightly turned so the ship doesn’t sit correctly on the base. A little annoyed with that, but whatever. I will accept it and move on.

Well, thank you for sharing, I will look closer when I'll buy the new core set.
I'm definitely going to compare them to the originals and the ones that came with the Gozanti

I already made 2 Mining Guild TIEs (about a year back). But their dial won't be the same as the normal TIEs, so there's no way to put them on the table as MG-TIE...

Good idea I am gonna follow your example. Lets hope the dials are similar to some other ship already in the game.

Nah, screw that, contact FFG customer service if you aren't happy with the minis you received. This is not a new issue, 1.0 TIEs often had similar problems, but that doesn't mean you have to live with it!

Ah, you are right. ****. Oh well. I'll probably still do it and see if I can source a dial on eBay, or make it a really battle-damaged TIE (maybe with only half a wing or something). I have something like 9 TIEs right now, plus three fos that I won't be using because I'm limiting myself to just Imperial/Scum factions, so I can play around with quite a few of them without really caring if I mess up.

I got a good second hand deal on a bunch of TIEs a while back, so with the 2.0 Core, I'll be up to 15 TIEs (including 2 home-made MG-TIEs), plus 2 FOs and 1 SF....

Ha. Well, I've got an extra X-wing, plus the new core set one, and some other Rebel ships (I think an A, B, and K-wing) so I might have some really odd, horribly ugly Uglies coming soon. Man, that was a weird sentence to type...

I agree so much... Hopefully, there will be no moving parts on T-70 X-Wing.

Already confirmed IIRC.
But if you don't like the moving parts, you can always stick with the old models...
Or apply a bit of superglue.
My cardboard templates centreline is not centre.
All of my 2.0 TIE Fighters are tilted forward/down. Oh well, it's not like I don't have seven TIEs to swap them out for anyway.
My X-wing is mostly alright. Had to tweak the ship peg slot. Might throw a bit more wash on later, but take at the moment. Ties were just fine.
Edited by ForceSensitiveOn a positive note, FFG are usually great about replacing defective or missing components including models. Its annoying to get something messed up to begin with, but file a ticket and I'm sure they'll take care of you.

You are correct. I have had to put a ticket in for a Striker model, a Starkiller mat with bubbles and some Legion stuff and they replaced it all promptly.
My core TIEs have the worst paint job I've seen so far. The black on the panels is about 3mm short of one edge. The plastic seemed about the same, though.
Not too impressed with the flappy X-wing either. The mechanism is loose enough that the fuselage can go out of square with the wings. Easy to readjust, but meh.
Also, in a game when accidental bumping is a real issue, are people actually going to be manipulating the wings during play?
