So, in a mere few hours, we'll be playing with the full Wave 1, 14, and incomplete waves 2-13. That said, what pilots do you hope to see return to the game from 1.0? What NEW pilots do you expect to see?
Off the top of my head, I definitely expect to see Hera pop up in the A-Wing expansion... actually I half expect to see a Phoenix Squadron Pilot and Hera X-Wing pilot cards slipped into that expansion because why the **** not? Not sure about her ability, but I can see her carry her VCX-100 skill over to the A-Wing.

K2-SO on a U-wing, even when the U-wing has been released already 2 times, one of them for 2.0.
While I don't play Rebels, I'd expect a couple of more Rogue Squadron Legends pilots on the E-wing. Maybe Ooryl Qrygg, Asyr Sei'lar, or Bror Jace. Ooryl due to being Corran's wingman (and a non-human, which is nice), Asyr is Gavin's girlfriend (also non-human), and Bror was the only pilot close to Corran's level of skill in the Legends books.
For Imperial, I'd like some more Interceptor pilots- Have DS-181-3 (Fel's Wrath) come back in a useful way, also have DS-181-4 (Phennir's wingman) show up. Maybe even get Lorrir back, though he was more of a poser than fighter.
Scum, I don't really know. We'll probably see some new Z-95 pilots come out, whenever they release a new Scum Headhunter expansion. Might see some more Starviper/Kimogila pilots as well.

Phoenix Squadron A-Wings are in the Rebel Alliance conversion kit - Initiative 1 pilots. I’d love to see Hera in an A-Wing or X-Wing, though!

We probably only need another two named A-Wing pilots and I'd much, much rather they give those slots to Tycho and Shara Bey.

I really don't want to see Hera in every single one of the Rebel fighters. It's boring. Hera's ship is the Ghost.
Shara Bey is canon and specifically an A-Wing pilot. Tycho isn't confirmed canon yet, but notably his Green 3 slot from Legends is still open, and LFL have been more pretty consistent in bringing back the old Legends names for all the other unnamed onscreen Rebel pilots (Horton Salm, Keir Santage, Theron Nett etc.). FFG are also obviously happy to still use Legends characters when they're popular (cf. Corran, Gavin, Soontir Fel, Miranda, Guri).
Besides, although she only flew it once, Hera's relationship with the B-Wing is much cooler. She was its first test pilot. We're also short of B-Wing pilots, outside Blade Squadron. Gina Moonsong feels like a definite, but I'd rather Hera get a look in the B-Wing than someone like Fox.
As for the X-Wing, there are so many canon, movie pilots I'd want to see over Hera. Hobbie, Wes Janson, Theron Nett...

X-Wing has more pilots because it's already had three releases - core, Saw's Renegades and the expansion.
The wave 1 expansions show that the new standard for 2e small base releases is four named, two generic. The A-Wing re-release will almost certainly follow that pattern, and we've already go two of the name pilots early from the conversion kit.
That leaves a probable two slots, and Shara and Tycho take precedence for me.
I don't believe that just because a character has been shown to use a certain ship, they should necessarily get that ship in X-Wing - some pilots will always get to use more ships than others just because they're main characters and get more screen / page time. Focus should be on the combinations that serve the game best by being distinctive (and yes, I'm aware that Shara is in the ARC already. That's an exception because the ARC doesn't have any real pilots).
Wedge also flew in A-Wing in Rebels, but that doesn't mean he should fly one in XWM. And while Hera flew the A-Wing a lot in the second season, she didn't really do much in it. Her biggest achievements or most impressive bits of flying were in the Ghost and B-Wing.
I'm not opposed to an eventual Aces pack with Hera in it, but that depends on whether such a pack ends up being needed.
