Hi,
I really love imperial assault artwork, mostly core one and I'd like to know if there are some t-shirt with it printed or if there're someway to get it.
Thanks, I think it would be absolutely cool ?

Unfortunately, that's probably a copyright nightmare.
Which is unfortunate, because FFG's art is the bomb.

I agree. One of my fave things to do when there's a new expansion is to look at the artwork.
I have been in contact with a couple of the artists who have done imperial assault artwork, and one is also a friend of mine (he did the Induce rage artwork), I have been trying to get them to some art work for my Character Tracker App. most of the conclusions, is that yes, it will be a copywrite nightmare. i have had to send a couple of request forms to FFG, which put me onto Disney requests. and thats what im currently in the process of. waiting for a reply for usage for the original artists to rework some of their images.
Edited by Spidey NZI wonder, does FFG or LFL retain copyrights on the original characters/designs that is created by FFG for their Star Wars games?
I'm guessing that either way, the artists are stripped of any rights to their own artwork other than the original copy, which is a shame but seems to be the norm in the gaming industry.

It's funny. I was looking at the credits recently for interest sake. It lists all of the artists names, so I suppose you could find them and see what work they have, but I'd assume Disney owns all the IA stuff.
From what I understand, you could print a t-shirt but if you make any money off of it, Disney will send you a cease and desist and demand any income you made from it. So, you could make your own for personal use maybe?
I was recently thinking the same. That is that it would be cool to have some IA t-shirts. I couldn't make Worlds this year because of their stupid lottery system. Now, I'm jealous when I see those guys who went wearing those cool black IA shirts.
My understanding of copyright law is that they can send you a cease and desist letter even if you are making shirts for yourself and not selling them, it's just harder for them to find out about it if you're keeping quiet and not peddling your wares publicly.

Ya that makes sense. So you'd have to keep it on the down low.
You might like the interview I had with Michal Ivan, who did the artwork for BG, RTH, HOTE and JR

I remember that. I really enjoyed it. I also commend you for thinking outside the box and interviewing an artist as opposed to just game designers like most do.

Advice from someone who at one time may or may not have been involved in that industry; "Legally Distinct" should become a new phrase in your vocabulary.

So if I say, photoshopped lando's mustache out, would that be legally distinct?

I think that's a confirmed crime against humanity. Besides, if Black Star Warrior could get away with it, surely you can get a shirt made?
