Viable? Terrible? I report, you decide!

I saw a variant on a Youtube channel that ran as a Scum list and thought I'd give it a go as a rebel list.

Thoughts / comments appreciate.

Here's the scum variant for comparison:

Drea Renthal (40)
Ion Cannon Turret (6)
Veteran Turret Gunner (8)
R4 Astromech (2)

Crymorah Goon (32)

Have to admit, Scum might be better on this one.

Got a link to this game? I think it can be terrible for some lists to meet this. Then again, the question : can you meet a swarm with it?

Maybe astromech on rebel list as well. There Will probably be some k turns after ion.

It was a review of a list, not an actual game. The actual list is towards the end of the video.

I did find a game when i searched yt. Its rebels to

Dang, that was a close game. Seems like the Rebel list isn't bad, but the Scum List probably would've fared better with the rerolls and blue 1 and 2 maneuvers.

Yes, scum list is better. But it is a ok rebel list. I will try it with r4 astromech

These two lists aren't the same. Aside from the init differences, Drea kicks the Crymorah Goons rerolls on targets in her arcs out to range 3.

Rebel simile to the Drea list. Verlaine works to keep the Greys in the fight longer.

Or you could swap Verlaine for Horton and have him trail a little, whe the squad gets close he can reroll up to 3 red if the Greys are all within range one of what he's shooting at.

Does subbing in Dace (dealers choice on how to kit out the HWK, but I like the title and Swarm Tactics) make this a more flexible control list? If I'm all-in on ions, I like Dace for the added insurance to lock something down on the first round of shooting.

I'm fascinated by the difference between Expert Handling and R4 Astromech on Y-Wings. Both two points, so it's an easy swap. I feel like R4 is probably a lot better on a ship which cares more about stress from other source (K-Turns and other red moves, barrel rolls), while Expert Handling might be better on folks who want to barrel roll frequently, and who don't really need red moves. A Proton Torpedo Y-Wing, for example, probably wants a better recovery from a K-Turn, and rarely wants to barrel roll. A Turret Y-Wing might be more interested in barrel rolling. That said, EH gives the ability to K-Turn on the turn after a Barrel Roll, which R4 does not. Maybe EH is best for K-Turning for that reason: the recovery doesn't matter, but being stressed from a barrel roll prevents it entirely.

It'll be interested to see how they play out on the table.

First, as an avid chess player, you have a great profile name.

Second, yes, but for the Scum variant it decreases the usefulness of Drea Renthal because his ability only works on grunts.

Would a HWK in the Rebel variant make sense?

Thanks!

Yeah, my thought was to sub Dace for Drea, keep the generics. But again, I'm not sure I'd actually prefer that setup.

I ran this in a launch tournament yesterday, went 2-2.

It was 2 Ys with Ion Cannon and 2 with Proton Bombs and Dorsal Turret. Did quite well, can be hard to get the Ion Cannon to trigger with needing 2 hits or more.

Found R4 pretty useful to keep the options open even when stressed. Ironically the best moment was destroying a Tie Defender with 4 primary attacks, nothing to do with ion or bombs.
