First attempt at stormtroopers

By SteveB86, in Painting

As the title says this is my first attempt at any legion painting. I figured I would put up a few pics of the finished product to see how I could improve for next time as it is something I could see myself doing for ages once the kids are in bed. ??? so any criticism would be appreciated. Thanks

Hope the link works lol

Not a bad outing at all.

If I'm honest I think some are look a bit grey and sooty (I'm thinking the leader). The HH-12 and the arms on some have a better gradation of whiteness. Maybe a mid tone on the flat of the armor before the final very white highlight.

The link works as do the stormtroopers. I agree with @Brightguy about the leader. But truthfully no one would think twice about these guys on the tabletop - they are more than adequate and despite the excess grime I would say they are neatly done. They don’t have any noticeable mistakes or blemishes. This is an accomplishment on minis that are nearly 100% black and white with some very small details. So unless you want to win a contest I would just move on to unit #2 and see if you want to do those a little differently.

If you like the other effects of your shader you might want to use a q-tip or soft absorbing cloth to wipe the flat parts of the troopers chest to reduce that grime effect. Or simply paint over it.
